Progress Is Being Made Toward a Safe Return |

The Village of Clinton reports that progress is being made to return residents home as soon as it is safe to do so. The Village will communicate progress regularly about the activities that need to happen before the community can return home. There is no return date yet, and while the evacuation order remains in place, access is restricted to authorized personnel only. Access for residents is not permitted at this time. |

What Has Been Completed So Far |
|
BC Hydro reports that all outages within the Village of Clinton have been restored. Restoring electricity is an important step in supporting emergency crews and helping essential services return as quickly as possible. Telus phone communications are also functioning. |

What Still Needs to Happen |
|
The following work is under way or still outstanding before residents can return: - Crews continue removing danger trees around the water treatment plant, and are checking the upper reservoir, water pipes, and other parts of the water system for debris and wildfire damage.
- Water testing continues as part of the work to safely restore the community's drinking water system, with additional inspections and testing over the coming days.
- Wildfire and related hazards continue to pose a threat to the immediate and surrounding areas. Roads, bridges, and transportation routes remain unsafe or inaccessible. Air quality assessments have been completed, and air quality remains at dangerous levels due to smoke. The Village reports power is functioning at 66 percent, with restoration plans in place for full functionality as soon as possible.
- High level damage assessments have been completed, but more work is needed to identify impacts to homes, businesses, and infrastructure. Fire, police, emergency medical services, and 911 access remain offline, and essential services and public supports are not yet established.
- Recovery and assessments involve multiple agencies, including BC Wildfire Service, the Thompson-Nicola Regional District, transportation authorities, utility providers, health authorities, and emergency management partners.

Apply for Employment Insurance (EI) as soon as you stop working, even if you don’t have your record of employment (ROE) yet. If you can’t work because of the wildfires, apply for EI online by going to: www.canada.ca/ei. Llenllenéy'ten Evacuation Order Remains in Effect |
|
The Evacuation Order issued by Kúkpi7 and Council for High Bar I.R 1, High Bar I.R 1A, and High Bar I.R 2, effective August 6, 2026 at 10:00 AM, remains in effect. No person may enter or remain in these areas for any purpose, including fishing or recreational vehicle use. Road systems in the area are shut down for safety. The signed Order and the map of the ordered area are available below. |
