Welcome to our Education Newsletter for Term 3 2026

The Chinese Museum plays an important role in preserving the heritage of Australians with Chinese ancestry for future generations and to acknowledge the contribution they have made to the evolution of Australian society over the past 200 years to the current day.

We preserve and present Chinese culture and Australian history to recognise and celebrate the identity of Chinese Australian people.

Dear Education Community,

In this edition of Ed-News, we are excited to share some of the learning opportunities currently available through the Chinese Museum. (Click here to read the Chinese version)

We are offering our Mahjong Workshop Program for Year Levels 3 and above. Through this interactive workshop, students can develop strategy, logical reasoning and problem-solving skills while having lots of fun. No prior knowledge is required, and an illustrated tutorial is included for complete beginners.
Schools can also bring the Chinese Museum to their classroom through our Travelling Museum programs. Visit the Incursions page on our website to explore the full range of workshops available.

Term 3 Bookings – Limited Availability Remaining

Our Term 3 calendar is filling quickly, with only limited dates and session times still available. If you are planning an excursion to the Chinese Museum this term, we strongly recommend booking as soon as possible to avoid missing your preferred date.
Please contact Angel, our Education Booking Officer, to discuss current availability and organize your school’s visit.

Calling All Mandarin Teachers

We are inviting Mandarin teachers to share their recommendations and suggestions as we explore the development of effective programs that will compliment the Victorian Curriculum F-10 for Chinese framework for students from Foundation to Year 10.
If you are interested in contributing ideas or providing feedback, we will send you a questionnaire. Please contact us at edubookings@chinesemuseum.com.au if you would like to participate.

Announcing our NEW Booking Process for Education Programs

Booking your education experience at The Chinese Museum will now be faster and easier than ever!

What’s changing:
To make the booking process clearer and more efficient, schools are very welcome to contact Angel Dai, Education Booking Administrator on (03)86370858 or at edubookings@chinesemuseum.com.au directly to discuss enquiries, available dates, program options, or any questions before making a booking.
However, once the details have been discussed, we kindly ask that all schools complete the appropriate online booking form. This allows us to keep an accurate record in our booking system and helps ensure there is no miscommunication or missing information from phone or email conversations.
This process will guide teachers throughout the planning process by getting your queries answered quickly, enabling more prompt confirmation of bookings.
How this benefits you:
  • Faster planning – contact me directly to check availability and discuss the best program options before submitting your booking.
  • Clearer communication – all confirmed details are recorded through the booking form, reducing the risk of information being missed or misunderstood.
  • Accurate booking records – student numbers, dates, programs and special requirements are kept together in one place.
  • Smoother confirmation – having complete information helps us process and confirm your booking more efficiently.

Meet our new booking officer!
Hello, my name is Angel, and I am very excited to introduce myself as the new Education Booking Officer at the Chinese Museum.
I come from a Chinese background and am bilingual in English and Chinese. With my language skills and cultural background, I am happy to support schools with their education bookings in either English or Chinese, especially for Chinese language teachers, bilingual programs, and educators who may prefer to communicate in Chinese.
In my role, I will be assisting with school excursion bookings, program enquiries, scheduling, and helping teachers choose suitable tours and workshops for their students. I understand that organising an excursion involves many details, so I hope to make the booking process as smooth and helpful as possible.
I am passionate about sharing Chinese culture, history, and Chinese Australian stories with students, and I look forward to working with teachers and welcoming more school groups to the Chinese Museum.
I can be contacted on Angel Dai, Education Booking Administrator on 0433477866 or at edubookings@chinesemuseum.com.au directly to discuss enquiries, available dates, program options, or any questions before making a booking.
