Greetings, Creative Spirits!
Today, we fully exit Leo season, and cross the threshold into Virgo, transitioning from creative fire to the work that makes creations real.
Leo gave us the spark of inspiration, the dynamic, kinetic energy of a vision taking shape, the surge of life force that LIGHTS us UP.
Virgo arrives to remind us that creation happens through matter, that, as earthly beings in fleshy bodies, our spiritual directive is to shape nature, shape the world. (Not dominate it, as patriarchy, capitalism, and supremacist ideology would have us believe.)
I'm currently attending a workshop on Mary Magdalene in upstate New York, and we're hearing how Mary's buried and much-later-resurrected gospel taught that the body was not lesser than the soul, not vile or sinful, but the vessel that allows the soul to navigate life in an embodied way.
Our spiritual assignment is to lean into the soul's desire for the tangible work of creating something meaningful, and meaning arises from impact — both the impact on others and on ourselves as creative beings.
Virgo is that worker, the one who understands that it takes time to build something real, that showing up, practicing the craft over and over is what allows it to become second-nature.
The card for this first part of Virgo is the Eight of Pentacles, where we see a craftsman laboring away at his workbench, hammering out another pentacle. The work appears monotonous and tedious, but what if this creator finds surrender, presence, and peaceful knowing through this act of meaningful work?
