Hello, friends!

Well...your friend Beth apparently decided to take an unplanned two-week vacation from the Weekend Update. Long live summer. 😉

 

The good news is that I've been doing exactly what I hope all of you have been doing—making the most of these beautiful summer days. Beach time, fun with friends, family, slowing down a bit…and just enjoying these fleeting days.

 

At the same time, I've also been spending lots of time in my local office (i.e., coffee shop) getting this year's Fall Style System ready early.  It feels really good to be ahead of schedule for a change, and I think you're going to love what I'm putting together.
 

But remember….summer isn't over—we've still got a few wonderful weeks to enjoy. So soak it up now because before we know it, we'll be thinking about jackets, denim, what shoes to wear with what pants. 🤔

The internet is full of creative ways to cuff + tie a shirt, but I like to keep it simple and done vs. complicated and fussy. 😉  Here's what I do…and this works with a shirt over a dress like I show here, or with a shirt and bottoms, like the outfit above, ‘In the Wild’. 

3. This Week’s Find:  A ridiculously good fall jacket/blazer/cardigan - all in one piece! 

The inspiration: $348 (on the right)  and my find: $42 (on the left)

In planning the Fall Style System, I try a lot of pieces to see what actually makes the cut.

 

And I know Amazon can be a love/hate thing. Some of you shop there all the time, and some of you refuse to—and I completely understand both sides. That’s why I’ve worked hard to recommend only pieces I’ve actually tried and genuinely feel good about.

 

I’d been eyeing this $348 jacket from a premium brand because I loved the combination of a tailored blazer with casual knit sleeves. But I just couldn’t justify the price—so I went looking for something with the same idea at a much more reasonable price.

 

It’s one of those rare pieces that lands somewhere between a jacket, blazer and cardigan, which makes it incredibly versatile for fall. You get the polish and structure of a blazer, but the knit sleeves make it feel much more relaxed and wearable.

 

👉🏼 For work: Wear it with trousers, a simple top, loafers or flats—or throw it over a dress.

👉🏼 For everyday: Jeans + tee + this jacket + simple shoes. Done.

 

And THIS is exactly what I mean when I say:
