September brings the first gentle shift into autumn, with the Vine New Moon and Harvest Full Moon, the Autumn Equinox, sacred dates from several ancient traditions and opportunities to reconnect with nature. 🍎✨ Welcome September Celestial Forecast 2026 🌿🌕✨
Harvest, Balance & Ripening Wisdom
September brings the first gentle shift into autumn. Across Britain, bramble bushes are heavy with blackberries, apples ripen on orchard branches, and conkers and chestnuts begin to fall as the natural world moves towards harvest, balance and gradual release.
Named from septimus, Latin for “seventh”, September was once the seventh month of the Roman year, when March marked the beginning of the new cycle. To the Anglo-Saxons it was Hālig-mōnaþ, the Holy Month – a name that seems particularly fitting for a month rich in sacred traditions and seasonal transition.
This year, September offers a particularly rich interplay of celestial and Khemitian energies. The Vine New Moon begins a cycle that reaches fulfilment with the Vine Harvest Full Moon, while the Autumn Equinox brings its annual moment of balance between light and darkness. Within the Ancient Egyptian calendar, we mark the Ceremony of Transformation through Anpu, the Raising of the Djed Pillar, the Fast of Tehuti and the Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands – the latter falling beautifully close to the Equinox, with both carrying themes of balance, integration and harmony.
Alongside these are sacred observances from Roman, Jain and Confucian traditions, plus opportunities to experience the changing season directly through Harmony in Nature Forest Bathing, including our regular session at Harry Edwards Foundation and special taster sessions during Dorking Walking Week.
As light and darkness come briefly into balance before the nights begin to lengthen, September invites us to recognise what has ripened, gather what we have sown and consider what we wish to carry forward into the quieter months ahead.

Friday 4th September is the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of Transformation through Anpu (Anubis). Guardian of the entrance to the Underworld, Anpu was believed to accompany the deceased into the Halls of Amenti, where the heart was metaphorically weighed against the feather of Ma’at, representing truth and right action.
This symbolism offers us an opportunity to consider what we ourselves might be carrying that has become unnecessarily heavy. Our Overcoming Limiting Behaviour Patterns with Anpu MP3 meditation uses the weighing of the heart as a journey of personal reflection, helping to reveal behaviours or patterns which may now be ready for transformation. Although devised for this sacred date, it can be used at any time.
The meditation and an informative laminated poster of Anpu by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry are available from the Harmony Shop.
Saturday 5th September is the Ancient Egyptian Ceremony of the Raising of the Djed Pillar, one of the earliest recorded ritual practices of Ancient Egypt. The Djed, symbolising stability, endurance and regeneration, was associated with the backbone of Wzr (Ausar/Osiris), although earlier traditions also connected it with Ptah.
The ceremonial raising of the Djed offers a powerful image of restoring stability and standing firmly in our own strength – particularly appropriate as we begin the transition from summer towards autumn.
An informative laminated poster of Wzr (Ausar/Osiris) by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry is available from the Harmony Shop.
Monday 7th September is Labor Day in the USA and Canada, observed on the first Monday in September and honouring the social and economic achievements of workers. In the United States it has been a federal holiday since 1894 and is widely regarded as marking the unofficial end of summer. As this is an American celebration, I have reluctantly used the American spelling of labour!
Tuesday 8th–Tuesday 15th September is Paryushana Parva, an important Jain festival devoted to spiritual purification, self-discipline, forgiveness and moral reflection. Traditionally observed through practices including fasting, meditation and sacred readings, the eight-day festival encourages Jains to examine their actions and renew their commitment to living according to the highest spiritual virtues.
Its emphasis on reflection, forgiveness and conscious living offers a beautiful invitation, whatever our own tradition, to consider what we might wish to make peace with or approach differently as we move into the new season. Dates may vary according to tradition.
Friday 11th September at 04:27 is the Vine New Moon, opening a lunar cycle associated with growth, ripening wisdom and recognising what has been cultivated through the year. Vine reminds us that growth does not always follow a straight path; like its tendrils seeking support as they climb, we can adapt our direction while remaining connected to what nourishes us.
The New Moon Abundance Ritual is best carried out within 24 hours after the New Moon, once the Moon has begun waxing again, symbolically carrying our intentions forward as its light increases. Video instructions are available on my YouTube page.
This is also a good opportunity to revisit your Vision Board for the remainder of 2026, noticing what has already come to fruition, what still feels aligned and what you may now wish to adjust or release.
Sunday 13th September is the Roman Festival of Lectisternium, a public rite recorded from at least 399 BCE in which statues of Juno, Jupiter and Minerva were dressed in fine garments and placed on couches as though reclining at a sacred banquet, with food and offerings laid before them.
Originally performed to appease the gods during times of crisis, Lectisternium also became an act of communal devotion and unity. Today, we might draw inspiration from the tradition by creating a small altar or offering table, perhaps with flowers, food or other meaningful items, to honour the divine energies important to us and invite harmony, abundance or guidance into our lives.
Saturday 19th September, 11.30am–2.30pm, join Joanna and Katie for a restorative three-hour Forest Bathing session in the beautiful grounds of Harry Edwards Foundation, Shere, £39.77.
As we approach the Autumn Equinox, we’ll slow down, awaken the senses and connect mindfully with the changing woodland as summer gives way to autumn. No special fitness or experience is needed – and despite the name, there’s no water involved!
Book at the Harmony Shop.
Saturday 19th September is the Ancient Egyptian Fast of Tehuti (Thoth), honouring the ibis-headed God of Magic, Wisdom, Writing and Secret Knowledge.
Tehuti was associated with the recording and preservation of knowledge, making this an especially appropriate day to explore the Akashic Records, which are said to contain the accumulated knowledge of human experience and the history of the cosmos – perhaps the energetic ‘DNA of the Universe’.
Our Visit the Akashic Records with Tehuti MP3 meditation offers a guided journey to your personal Akashic Record, traditionally imagined within the Halls of Amenti, to explore whether hidden blockages to spiritual growth and wellbeing may be revealed. Although particularly appropriate for the Festivals of Tehuti on 19th August and 19th September, the meditation can be used at any time.
The meditation and Egyptian Deity posters by Jacqui Taliesin El Masry are available from the Harmony Shop.
Sunday 20th September, 10.30am–12 noon, Harmony in Nature is offering a special 1½-hour Forest Bathing Taster Session at Meadowbank Park, Dorking, £15, as part of Dorking Walking Week (19th–26th September).
This shorter session is an ideal introduction to Forest Bathing, offering an opportunity to slow down, awaken the senses and experience mindful connection with nature.
Further taster sessions take place on Thursday 24th September, with a choice of 1½-hour and 2-hour sessions. Book at the Harmony Shop.
Tuesday 22nd September is the Ancient Egyptian Ritual of the Neteru of the Two Lands, a celebration of the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt which, perhaps fittingly, always falls close to the Autumn Equinox and its themes of balance and equilibrium.
The Two Lands were Upper Egypt in the south, extending towards Aswan, and Lower Egypt in the north, where the Nile spreads into its Delta before reaching the Mediterranean. Their unification, traditionally associated with Menes (Narmer) around 3000 BCE, was symbolised by the pschent, or Double Crown, combining the White Crown of Upper Egypt with the Red Crown of Lower Egypt.
On a spiritual level, the Two Lands can represent the higher and lower aspects of ourselves, with their unification symbolising integration and wholeness. As we approach the Equinox, this ancient ritual offers an opportunity to consider where seemingly opposing aspects of our own lives might be brought into greater harmony and balance.
Wednesday 23rd September at 01:05 BST is the Autumn Equinox in the Northern Hemisphere, when day and night come into balance before we cross the threshold into the darker half of the year. In the Southern Hemisphere, this marks the Spring Equinox and the return towards increasing light.
The word equinox comes from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), reflecting this moment of equilibrium between light and darkness. Traditionally associated with harvest and fulfilment, the Autumn Equinox offers an opportunity to pause and acknowledge what has ripened through the year, while considering what we are ready to release as nature begins to withdraw its energy.
This natural point of balance also invites introspection: what in our lives is worth nurturing and carrying forward, and what might now be allowed to fall away, creating space for the seeds of the year ahead?
Thursday 24th September offers two further opportunities to join Harmony in Nature for a special Forest Bathing Taster Session at Meadowbank Park, Dorking, as part of Dorking Walking Week: 10.30am–12 noon, 1½ hours, £15, or 2–4pm, 2 hours, £20.
See Sunday 20th September above for full details and booking link.
Saturday 26th September at 17:49 is the Vine Harvest Full Moon, bringing the lunar cycle that began with the Vine New Moon on 11th September to fulfilment. Falling just a few days after the Autumn Equinox, this Full Moon carries strong themes of harvest, gratitude and recognising what has ripened or reached completion in our lives.
Traditionally, the period between the Full Moon and the next New Moon, while the Moon is waning, is considered a good time energetically for cleansing, releasing and detoxing the body.
See below for details of our live online Vine Harvest & Equinox Full Moon Meditation.
Saturday 26th September, 7.30–9.30pm (UK time) is our Vine Harvest & Equinox Full Moon Guided Healing & Unity Consciousness Meditation – Integration, Gratitude and Soul Ripening.
Falling soon after the Autumn Equinox, this meditation invites us to pause at the seasonal threshold and honour our own personal harvests – recognising growth that has unfolded both visibly and unseen, and acknowledging the lessons, relationships, experiences and inner shifts that have brought us to this point.
Working with the balancing energies of the Equinox and the wisdom of Vine, we will ground gratitude into the body, draw earned wisdom into the cells and gently release what has served its purpose, whilst fully appreciating what remains.
A closing blessing allows each participant to taste their own harvest with appreciation, carrying its wisdom and nourishment forward into the darker half of the year. £20, with concessions for Harmony Healing students. Book at the Harmony Shop.
Monday 28th September is celebrated as Confucius’s Birthday and Teachers’ Day, an opportunity to honour the wisdom-sharers in our lives – those who guide, inspire and nurture our growth, whether through formal teaching or simply by walking their path with integrity.
Rooted in Confucian philosophy, with its emphasis on education and moral development as foundations of a harmonious society, this is a fitting day to acknowledge a teacher or mentor who has influenced your journey. It can also be a time to recognise the wisdom you have gathered yourself and may now be called upon to share with others.
You might mark the day by thanking a teacher or past guide, sending them a blessing, or setting an intention for your own continued learning and development.
