WWCO - WHAT WOULD CHRISTOPHER ORDER?

DIN
TAI FUNG

i've been dining at my favorite restaurants over & over again lately in a sea of new restaurant openings every day. welcome to wwco - what would christopher order. a list of my must have's when i'm dining at some of my personal, most favorite & frequented restaurants.

I'm high key kind of ashamed -not really- at how much I think about Din Tai Fung. Like all someone has to say to me is “Chris wanna go to Din..” and I'm already like yes actually I do want to go to Din Tai Fung.  This uber popular Taiwanese restaurant landed here in NYC 2 years ago, went viral and has been a hard reservation to secure ever since. On my recent visit I waited 2.5hrs to get a table and I'll do it again, and again, and again.

We all know a viral restaurant has it's ups and downs and I noticed that all of the people “reviewing” DTF were only highlighting very specific dishes. And if you know anything about me then you know, I'm going to do the exact opposite. Yes those popular dishes are good, but there's so many other menu item's that are great.

Din Tai Fung is constantly buzzing with trays of food swirling around you, team members with headsets in their ears and robots bringing take out orders up to the front desk. But once those sweet & sour pork baby back ribs hit your table or you dip that warm chocolate mochi xiao long bao dumpling in that perfect sea salt cream…you are already planning your next visit back.

I introduced 2 people to Din Tai Fung who have never dined there before and a few days later I received the …"Chris when are we going back?" text. As I was sitting there introducing them to my favorite menu items, I thought to myself why don't I share my go to orders at some of my most frequented restaurants with my fabulous eaters?  And here we are! For my first round up, here's everything I always order at Din Tain Fung.

Here's What I Order Every Time @ Din Tai Fung:

-Pear Lychee Martini
-Cucumber Salad
-Sweet + Sour Pork Baby Back Ribs

-Chicken Dumplings

Although a world famous dish, I am not a fan of the xiao long bao soup dumplings from DTF but it is still a good dish to try.

-String Beans w. Garlic
-Taiwanese Cabbage w. Garlic

-Fried Rice w. Shrimp

-Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao w. Sea Salt Cream

Recent Dishes That I Have Tried and LOVED:
-Steamed Soup w. Bone In Chicken
-Chicken Spicy Wontons
-Noodles w. Sesame Sauce
-Braised Beef Noodle Soup
-Kurobuta Pork Sticky Rice Wrap
