Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

September 6, 2026

Hi friends, and Happy Labor Day Weekend!

This week marks four years since we moved to Newport - definitely one of our best decisions.

As many of you know, in 2022, we sold our family home of 25 years in Massachusetts and downsized to a little house here in our favorite town. We actually rented a place just down the street for nine months while we figured out if this was really where we wanted to be. (It took about 24 hours to know the answer.)

Most days I still can't believe we get to call this place home. I'm incredibly grateful that we get to live somewhere we love so much, surrounded by longtime friends, wonderful new friends, and—best of all—a place our boys (and their friends) love coming back to.

And now we're entering Locals' Summer—the best time of year. The weather is gorgeous, the summer energy is still here, but without quite as many people. It's the best of both worlds.

If you've ever thought about visiting Newport, September and October is prime time. I get asked for Newport recommendations all the time, so I put together a simple list with my favorite restaurants, walks, beaches, and things to do. If you're planning a trip, you can download it below. I update it occasionally, so save the link.

I've also been busy putting the finishing touches on this year's Fall Style System, which officially launches later this week. If you joined the Spring or Summer Style System this year, be sure to check your inbox for the special early-access invitation I sent last week—including a perk I think you'll love. If you can't find it, just hit reply to this email and I'll happily send it again.

Now, go enjoy this holiday weekend, soak up every bit of summer you can...and #justgetdressed.

We’re 2/3 of the way through my Fall Pant Silhouette Series!

So far we’ve covered the no-brainer straight leg and how to make a wide leg work without feeling like your pants are wearing you. 😉

Tuesday we’re tackling BARREL LEG, aka the silhouette most likely to make you say, “Absolutely not.” đŸ€Ș

I’ve got some examples that may actually change your mind...and I promise, they don’t all look ridiculous.

Make sure you’re following me on Instagram so you don’t miss Part 3!

If you’ve been around here for a while, you probably know that I am NOT much of a “cooker.”

But I do have a signature dish that I bring to parties—and I have to tell you, it’s always a hit.

So in honor of Labor Day Weekend, I’m letting you in on my secret recipe.

Beth’s Famous Candy Cocktail 🍾

đŸ‘‰đŸŒ Step 1: Buy a giant martini glass. The bigger, the better.  Extra credit if you tie a ribbon to the stem
A nice touch, but purely optional.

đŸ‘‰đŸŒ Step 2: Buy a few bags of fun, colorful candy. I like a good assortment of gummies—Swedish Fish are a must, plus some sour gummies, which I personally hate but are always a fan favorite.

đŸ‘‰đŸŒ Step 3: If you’re taking it to a party, put the candy in a Ziploc bag and fill the glass when you get there.

This is a very important step that I learned the hard way many years ago when approximately 8,000 peanut M&M’s dumped all over my car on the drive to a party.  Some recipes are perfected through years of trial and error.

đŸ‘‰đŸŒ Step 4: When you arrive, dump the candy into the glass and toss it like a salad.

And voilĂ . Who's better than you???

Put it out and watch what happens. People go crazy for it.

You’re welcome. 😘

Happy LDW! đŸ‡ș🇾
