Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with
Real (smart) Budgets

September 13, 2026

Well hello friends!

How is it possible that another week has come and gone? It's true what they say…the older you get, the faster time flies. (I have officially become my mom...she used to say that all the time.) 😄

I've spent much of this week putting the finishing touches on this year's Fall Style System, and while I was working, I found myself thinking about something that's become the heart of everything I do.

For years I've encouraged women to #justgetdressed. On the surface, it sounds like style advice. And obviously, in many ways it is.

But it's not just about the clothes, the styles, the accessorizing.

I truly believe that getting dressed intentionally is often the first good decision of the day.

When I take a few minutes to get dressed in the morning, I'm more likely to go for my walk. I'm more likely to make a healthier lunch. I'm more likely to tackle the errand I've been putting off, meet a friend for coffee, or say yes to something I might otherwise have skipped.

It's never really about the outfit. And the outfit doesn't have to be complicated or “dressy” or overly “styled”.

It's about taking 5 minutes to pull yourself together so the rest of the day can start to come together too. And of course, the day won't be perfect, but like making your bed, you've done something simple to get the ball rolling.

That's why I believe so strongly in the #justgetdressed habit. Not because I think everyone needs to be dressed up, but because I've seen how one small decision can have a ripple effect throughout the rest of the day.

And after the easy pace of summer, September feels like the right time to get those #justgetdressed muscles working again. Not because the calendar says it's fall, but because routines give us control, so we are better prepared to handle what life throws our way.

2.📲 One Less Decision to Make Every Morning
Most of us don't need a whole new wardrobe—we just get stuck on repeat.

It's easy to reach for the same few outfits without much thought, then wonder why we don't love the way we look.

Sometimes all it takes is five minutes and a fresh outfit idea to improve your daily style and the way you feel about your closet.

That's why I created Text Me My Outfit™️ as a new optional feature in this year's Fall Style System.

Each morning, you'll receive that day's outfit prompt by text, so you can glance at your phone, pull together an outfit, and get on with your day.

One less decision to make...and one more reason to #justgetdressed.

3. This Week's Video: 🎥 Let's Slow Our Roll
In case you missed this one, I shared a little fall style reality check this week.

I know a lot of us love to shop… especially this time of year.

BUT hear me out: your closet is probably more ready for fall than you think, and you definitely don’t need to start over or go on a huge shopping spree.

Here’s my common-sense take on using what you have, shopping thoughtfully, and making #justgetdressed a whole lot easier (and more satisfying) this season.

The Only App I've Used Consistently…. For 545 Days

Impressive, right?? 😉

Well, I have a back issue that I need to stay on top of, and daily stretching is one of the things that keeps it at bay—and keeps me active and able to play
tennis without pain.

When I get off track with stretching, I pay the price and have to rush to my chiropractor. So consistency really makes a difference for me.

The BEND app has made it incredibly easy for me to stick with it. It gives me a simple routine to follow, times each stretch for me, and—clearly—keeps me motivated by tracking my streak. 545 days and counting!

You can use one of their premade routines or completely customize your own based on what you need. I love that I don't have to think about what stretches to do or how long to hold them.  And I really love that there's no talking, no sound (other than the timer), and no button-pressing needed…I just open the app and press START.

It's a small daily habit that has made a big difference in keeping me active.
Highly recommend. 👍🏼

That's it for today!  Thanks for being here.
Have a great week ahead, and remember to #justgetdressed. ✅👍🏼
