My Mum is the most amazing baker. Twenty years ago she made more money selling cakes on the local Women's Institute market stall to supplement her income than I did as a teacher in the Steiner School. Says a lot about my teachering salary, I know!
Somehow, I did not inherit the baking gene. My cakes have been famously disastrous. Ask my daughter about her birthday cakes. We laugh about it now.
So when my coach invited applications for Master Coach Training and sent an email with the task for Phase One, my excitement turned to horror upon learning that the first task was to bake a cake, film myself doing it, edit the video and make it great.
I knew there'd be a lot of applicants for the absurdly limited 15 places on training. 600 people signed up, 215 baked cakes and submitted videos.
Can you imagine being the one who has to say no to 200 people?!
I did not make it to the second round, and I'm genuinely proud of myself. I've wanted to take Master Coach Training since I certified in 2020, and the opportunity doesn't come around all that often.
Demand is HIGH. And I showed up anyway, and gave my all.
I'm sharing this story with you because I know that there's something you want as much as I wanted that training.
You want to meet the ‘one’ and get married, start your own business and create financial and time freedom, lose 30lbs and get strong.
Demand is high for all those things. Showing up with your all, giving it your best shot and not hitting the mark? I do know how much that stings.
I also know that it stings SO MUCH harder when you don't show up, when you quit on yourself over and over, when you blame someone else for you not having the thing, when you don't give yourself the chance and when you don't give it all of your best effort.
You want to be able to lay your head on the pillow at night and say to yourself “I gave myself the best chance of success, and for that I admire you”
It's hard to do it alone. It is so much easier with a coach.
