☕ Warmer weather is here, Ellie surprised me twice and a conversation at Delicia I am still thinking about
Hey First name / beautiful,
The warmer weather is here and I am loving it.
Friday night I fell asleep on the couch at 7:30 and ended up sleeping for nearly eleven hours. Ellie surprised me twice this week with decisions she made completely on her own. I had a conversation at Delicia about the Full Plates arc that I have kept thinking about ever since. The podcast sprint is in full swing and I have some behind-the-scenes news to share.
This week I am taking you into all of it: what Ellie got up to, why I clearly needed that sleep, the conversation with Ben at Delicia, what is happening with the podcast and why Episode 047 is the listen for this week.

👧 Ellie’s Corner
🔬 She wants to learn about matter and transport
This week Ellie told me she has decided not to watch TV after school anymore. Instead she wants to use that time to look things up, matter, transport, science topics she has been hearing about from a friend at school. I love that she heard her friend talking about something, wanted to know more and decided to look it up herself.
🧠 A moment of real self-awareness
The school has been sending home forms for class preferences for next year. Ellie was filling hers in and mentioned a girl she is friends with. She said she did not want to put her down for her class because she distracts her a little. That stopped me. She is nine and already knows that being in the same class as someone she likes but is distracting could make it harder for her to concentrate. She worked that out herself and made her choice based on it. I am so proud of her for that.

☕ The Freedom Edit
😴 My body made the decision
Friday night I fell asleep on the couch at 7:30pm. According to my watch I was out until midnight. Then I picked myself up, went to bed and slept until 6:30 the next morning.
I let it happen. If you have been listening to the Getting Out the Door arc you will have heard me talk about cognitive load quite a bit. Last week was high on that front. My body just said we are done and I listened. I felt amazing afterwards. That is what listening to your body actually looks like in real life.
🌞 The warmer weather is back
I am so happy to have the warmer weather back. I feel better when the sun is out and the temperature starts climbing. The evenings are getting lighter, daylight saving is getting closer and I love having more daylight at the end of the day. Give me longer days over longer nights every time.

🧠 Brains, Breaths & Behind the Scenes
🎙️ A big arc is being recorded
At the moment I am recording and planning what is probably one of the most important arcs of the year for me. I am stripping things back a little with this one and being more truthful about how things actually are. I don't want to give too much away but it is something I have been working on for a while and I am really excited about where it is going.

I am also planning to pause the podcast in mid-November, around when the final episode of the year drops. I will be back in the new year. That gives me a few weeks where I am not writing, recording and releasing an episode every Monday, so I can put that time into the website and the other GA Wellness resources I am building. This is me being intentional about my own seasons and capacity.
🎙️ Can I ask you something?
If something from the podcast or the Digest has helped you, made you think or put words around something you were going through this year, please share it with someone in your world who might need it too.
📱 Mentoring Monday this week
This week's Mentoring Monday connected directly to Episode 047. Why is it that the moment you want to leave is when everybody wants something from you?
Mum, where are my shoes? Mum, where is my tennis racket? Mum, where is my phone? Mum, where are my soccer gloves? Then the dog starts whining because it hasn't been fed. You look at the clock and you have five minutes left and you have not even eaten.
This is where it helps to pause and look at where the interruptions happened along the way. That helps you work out where you are in the process so you can actually get out the door.
If something lands for you when you watch it, please share it on to someone who needs to hear it.

🎙️ The GA Wellness Podcast: Episode 047 Is Live
Getting Out the Door: You’re Finally Out, So Why Are You Still Rattled? How the Morning Follows You Into the Rest of Your Day
You made it out the door. So why does it still feel like the morning is following you?
This is episode two of the Getting Out the Door arc. We follow what happens once you close the front door behind you. The replay of that morning conversation, the drop off that didn't go the way you hoped, the moment you pulled into work and realised your mind was still back at home. If you have ever arrived somewhere and barely remembered the trip, this episode is going to explain exactly why.

🎧 From the Podcast Vault
Many readers save these conversations for a walk, a quiet cuppa or the school run. If this week's episode has you thinking about why you arrive somewhere already running on empty, these earlier conversations add another layer.

Episode 046
E046 Getting Out the Door: Why Does Leaving Take So Much Work? What Happens Before You Reach the Front Door
E047 picks up exactly where this one left off. If you haven't listened to E046 yet, start there first. It traces the whole morning backwards from the front door and sets up everything we explore this week.
Episode 028
Rest and Repair: Tired But Can't Switch Off at Night? Why Your Mind Won't Slow Down
E047 talks about the mental replay that keeps going even after you have left the house. This episode goes into what happens at night when your brain does exactly the same thing. The two connect in a way that will make a lot of sense once you have heard both.
Episode 025
Grounded and Growing: What Your Childhood Interests Reveal About How You Think
E047 talks about where your attention goes when the immediate problem is over and how that shapes the rest of your day. This episode looks at what your natural thinking patterns are and where they come from. It is a sideways listen that connects in a really interesting way.

🌿 Not sure what season you are in right now?
E047 talks about how the season you are in shapes how much the morning takes out of you and how long it takes before you feel like yourself again. The Season Mapping Quiz is completely free and takes a couple of minutes. It gives you a really clear picture of where you are at right now.

💬 Ben at Delicia
Last weekend I had the chance to spend some time at one of my favourite cafes, Delicia. Shout out to Ben and the whole team there, beautiful people, amazing vibe and a great place to sit and work.
What made it really special was the conversation. Ben would not usually be someone I picture listening to the podcast, but he told me the Full Plates arc had really made him think. He said he had not realised how much supermarkets were doing to influence the decisions we make while we shop.
I loved hearing that because that was exactly what I wanted that arc to do: help you see what is happening around a food decision before you blame yourself for the choice you made.

🌿 Reflection Prompts
Take these with you into the weekend.
Did your body tell you something this week and did you act on it?

Has someone said something to you recently that you haven't stopped to think about yet?

What is one thing from this week you want to do differently next week?

If something comes up when you think about these, reply back and let me know.

☕ Mini Practice
This week, when you feel yourself pushing through something, pause for a moment.

Are you tired? Hungry? Rushing? Tense? Do you need five minutes before you keep going?
Work out what is happening first, then decide what you need to do next.

🌿 A Small Moment Before You Go
This week my body needed sleep, so I slept. Ellie wanted to learn more about something she heard at school, so she started looking it up. She knew one of her friends would distract her in class next year, so she made a different choice on her preference form. Ben told me the Full Plates arc had changed what he sees when he walks through a supermarket.
Four completely different moments, but each one changed what happened next. Before you head into the rest of your week, think about this:

What did you recognise this week that changed what you did next?

If something comes to mind, reply back and let me know. I always love hearing what is unfolding in your world.

Thanks for letting me walk this journey with you. You are exactly why I do this work.
