I have some very hard news to share. My mom passed away last month after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. My family and I are devastated. She was kind and adventurous and loving and feisty and she was always my biggest cheerleader. I'm deeply grateful to everyone who has reached out and held us in their prayers over these last few months. It has meant more to me than I can put into words.
For much of October, I'll be walking the Camino de Santiago in Spain. This was a trip my mom and I took together three years ago and I'm looking forward to being back on “the Way” and its patterns of walking, feasting and resting. I'll still have my phone if anything urgent comes up, but otherwise I'm looking forward to catching up with all of you properly once I'm back.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy October in DC! It is one of the best months to be in the area. Gold across the trees, cooler mornings, that first real reason to grab a jacket on the way out the door. October also means Halloween, which turns into a real neighborhood event, with trick-or-treating drawing crowds and spectacular house decorations that always delight me.
As always, if you, or someone you know, is thinking about buying or selling in DC, Maryland, or Virginia, please send them my way. I'm always grateful for your trust and your referrals, and I'm happy to be a resource however I can.
Warmly,
Hannah
