// the mood & vibes this week
— hi, friends :) writing this to you from the silver laurel, where i’m feeling a tiny bit of fall energy creep into LA and, predictably, loving it. i know september here is often less “crisp autumnal fantasy” and more “oh lord why is it 91 degrees at 8pm,” but every now and then the light shifts, there’s the smallest whisper of clouds, and i’m like…okay yes, she's here. i will be patronizing the TJ's pumpkin section immediately.
— i’ve also been really on my shooting film grind, which feels of the season, even though my vintage olympus recently sailed off into the blue. she croaked at our local echo park street festival! i ended up buying a kodak snapic with a glass lens and so far it’s been OK. still getting used to this one, but there is something really fun about capturing things and really not knowing how they'll turn out until you send away the roll. i'm loving this delayed gratification + documentation…lensing my friends / nature / tiny corners of my house / travels.
— and speaking of - labor day weekend was rainy and packed and lovely and full of adventures. on sunday, my friends and i did a little ojai day trip and toodled around town, olive oil tasting and thrifting and generally pretending we were in a nancy meyers movie ("it's complicated," anyone!?). then on monday, we went to leo carrillo beach, which was originally supposed to be a bigger malibu beach day/camping trip but ended up feeling very local / lowkey / gorgeous.
got a very fab film pic back that i used as the cover of a new series on IG about my transition! sometimes the best plans are the ones that get slightly rerouted - and after a day in the waves, kbbq at my friend's apartment was just what we needed.
— work has also been full in that very fall real estate way where every thread is moving at once. i had a rainy broker’s open recently with literal thunder outside, which felt kind of cinematic and slightly insane. i’ve been out showing the girlies old houses, talking through searches, and moving through the final weeks of listing prep for the canyon house i’ve been mentioning. y’all, it is looking so dreamy - we're staging in almost a week. the house already had such good bones and now it’s getting that last layer of magic before going out into the world, and to you:)
— in silver laurel news, i have a new tenant moving into unit 2 of my triplex, which is so exciting. never a dull moment at my urban treehaus!
— on friday, some friends and i tried to go to an event at
the new hotel lucile, but we couldn’t even get in because the place was mobbed. the whole project looks so fab - designed by
electric bowery (one of my all-time fave firms) - very moody / candlelit / silver lake hotel fantasy. we ended up going to bacari instead, which i had somehow never been to, and it was marvelous. a future date spot for sure!
— i also finished my annual rewatch of SATC / AJLT, because naturally this is important seasonal work. there is something about revisiting the same shows at different points in your life that makes them feel like a mirror. you notice different elements. you side with different folks. you suddenly understand a plotline you once thought was ridiculous (cough cough, everything carrie bradshaw has ever done). growth!
— so that’s where things have been at. a little rain, a little film, a little canyon-house prep, a little glimmer of fall. i’m always grateful for these middle ground weeks between seasons, where i can sense the shift before it fully arrives. although i am READY for fall's arrival, though - bring me PSL's and pumpkin carving parties and wow, actual leggings instead of shorts. could i sound any more basic?
