I was sitting at one of my regular coffee-shop spots the other day, working on my laptop, when a woman came over to me.  She said she sees me there all the time and has always wondered what I’m working on.

So I gave her the quick version of what I do—helping women over 50 make getting dressed easier, figure out what belongs in their closets, and put together clothes they actually like wearing.  I always feel a little awkward talking about what I do, but I'm trying to get over that…and I have to say, she was intrigued.

And then she said something that made me laugh:
“I basically have two styles. Dumpy and fabulous.” 😂

Meaning, most days she’s home, running errands, walking, sitting at a coffee shop…so she doesn’t really “get dressed.”
But when she has somewhere to go?
She gets dressed.

And I think SO many women at this stage of life can relate. 🙌🏼

Our days are more casual now. We work from home, run errands, walk the dog, babysit the grands (lucky you),  meet someone for coffee, go to appointments, putter around the house.

Then suddenly we have dinner plans, a party, a girls’ night or a wedding—and we pull out all the stops.

Dumpy or fabulous. Not much in between.

But here’s what I told her, and what I try to stress whenever I talk about #justgetdressed:
Those in-between days are your life, too.

And paying a little attention to what you wear on them doesn’t mean spending 20 minutes “crafting an outfit” to go to the grocery store. 🚫

It means reaching for easy clothes you like, putting them together with a little thought, and getting on with your day. ✅

That’s really the whole idea behind #justgetdressed.
Not dressing up.
Not trying harder.
Not performing for other people.

Just making one small, intentional decision at the beginning of your day.

Because most of us can throw on clothes in five minutes.
The problem is we’re often underwhelmed by the result.

And if you're routinely underwhelmed by how you look, you may feel sloppy, self-conscious, less confident—or simply annoyed every time you catch yourself in the mirror.

And when that happens day after day, it’s easy to assume the answer is more clothes.
Usually, it isn’t.
We need everyday basics that do the heavy lifting. A few easy outfit formulas. Clothes that work together. And the habit of putting them on with just a little intention.

That’s a big part of what I try to solve with the Fall Style System.
It’s not about creating a fabulous “look” every day. It’s about having a practical wardrobe plan, knowing which pieces will give you more options, and having simple outfit guidance that makes getting dressed easier.
Even on a random Wednesday.

Because those random Wednesdays?
They make up a pretty big chunk of our lives. 😘

Happy Wednesday and #justgetdressed,
xo, Beth
