Real (approachable) Style Advice for Real (grown-up) Women with Real (smart) Budgets |
Hello! Coming to you on Sunday morning from a rain-soaked Newport. We’ve been getting lots of check-in texts from people who’ve heard about this “Nor’easter,” and I’m happy to report that for us, it’s been a pretty run-of-the-mill rainy weekend. Other areas along the East Coast have been hit harder, though, so if you’re in the path of the storm, I hope all is well with you! I used yesterday to take my own advice and go through my closet...and my “overflow closet,” which is really just a couple of rolling racks in the basement. 🫤 As much as I love our downsized Newport life, I do occasionally miss my big ol’ suburban closet. But life is all about trade-offs, right? Anyway, I got the job done. I have bags of clothes to donate, an organized (albeit small) closet, and I even tackled my completely out-of-control underwear and sock situation. So file this one under “Doctor, heal thyself.” And if you haven’t staged your own little closet intervention yet this fall, you’ll want to join us here, because we all know, misery loves company. 🤪 |

Now, here’s what went on in B.Styled this week... |
You may have noticed a new email from me this week called Just a Wednesday. The idea is simple: one quick thought about getting dressed, your wardrobe, or something I’ve noticed in real life that I think is worth sharing. This week's came from a conversation with a woman at one of my regular coffee-shop spots. When I told her what I do, she laughed and said: “I basically have two styles. Dumpy and fabulous.” LOL. I think a lot of us can relate. But it got me thinking about all those days in between. The errands, appointments, coffee runs, and those regular days that make up most of our lives. And that's really what #justgetdressed is about. Not dressing up. Just having everyday clothes that work together -- and putting a little thought into what you put on. So keep an eye out for Just a Wednesday in your inbox each week. And remember to #justgetdressed...even on a Wednesday. 😘 |

2. 🎥 Reel Recap: The Secret to Better Fall Outfits |
This week's reel was all about one of the easiest ways to get more outfits from the clothes you already own: a versatile collection of toppers. I showed how the same basic foundation can look completely different with a few well-chosen jackets and layers. If you missed it, it's worth a watch! 👇🏼 |
3. The Cardigan: Ultimate Versatile Topper |
One of my favorite styling tricks from this week's topper reel is using a cardigan as both an accessory and a layer. It adds a pop of color when tied around your shoulders, then becomes the perfect topper when the weather cools, or you head into air conditioning. If you've had your eye on the popular Sézane Othello Cardigan (far left), you'll want to take a look at Quince's new Baby Alpaca Cardigan (middle) or their lighter-weight 100% yak wool cardigan (far right). While they're not identical, they have a very similar look and are made with comparable premium natural fibers. The Othello is made from 68% baby alpaca, 30% polyamide, and 2% elastane, while Quince's version is 70% baby alpaca, 23% nylon, and 7% merino wool. In other words, you're getting a beautiful, high-quality knit at a much more approachable price. Quince also offers the cardigan in several gorgeous fall colors, making it an easy piece to dress up or down throughout the season. Wear it open, buttoned as a top (slip a white or gray crewneck t-shirt under it for a cool look), or over your shoulder. |
