I use the phrase “pulled-together” a lot.
And it occurred to me that I've never really said what I mean by it.
Because when I tell you I want to help you look more pulled-together, I definitely don’t mean more dressed up.
I don’t mean you need a blazer.
Or lots of jewelry.
Or heavy makeup.
Or some carefully “styled” outfit just to run errands.
To me, pulled-together simply means your outfit looks like it makes sense.
The pieces work together. The proportions look right. And there’s enough attention to the details that you look finished, even when you’re dressed casually.
And I think that distinction matters.
Because you can be wearing pull-on athleisure pants, sneakers, and a sweatshirt and look pulled-together.
You can wear jeans and a sweater and look pulled-together.
You can be comfortable, casual and completely appropriate for an ordinary Wednesday and still look like you know what you're doing. 😉
Usually it comes down to three things:
The pieces work together.
The colors, styles, and level of dressiness make sense for what you're doing.
The proportions work.
The lengths, shapes, volume, and fit look right on you.
The outfit looks finished.
Maybe it’s the shoes. A half-tuck. Rolling your sleeves. Opening the neckline. Adding a simple accessory. Often it’s one small thing that takes an outfit from “I put clothes on” to “Yep. This works.” 👍🏼
And none of this requires more clothes or more effort.
It just requires paying a little attention to the clothes you’re already putting on.
Because pulled-together isn’t a dress code.
It’s when what you’re wearing works together and works for your life. And it just feels right too.
THAT is really what I want for you with #justgetdressed.
Not fabulous every day.
Not dressed up every day.
Just clothes that make sense for your life and an outfit you’re not underwhelmed by when you catch yourself in the mirror.
Even on just a Wednesday. 😘
