Our Farms & Farming Practices
Your produce is grown by small-to-medium-sized diversified farms across Litchfield County, ranging from beginning growers to multi-generational farm families.
All produce is grown organically without synthetic pesticides, so you might occasionally spot a harmless bug or worm nestled in the nooks and crannies. Many of our partner farms practice regenerative agriculture, prioritizing soil health and local ecosystems.
Harvest & Delivery Timeline
Harvesting takes place on Sunday and Monday. The produce is brought to the food hub to be packed, then delivered directly to Greenwich on Tuesday morning.
Freshness & Low-Waste Packaging
Growing food in Connecticut comes with unique challenges, especially as climate change increasingly affects local weather and crop yields. Weather directly impacts produce quality. Additionally, our supply chain relies on low-waste packaging. To minimize plastic use, we try to avoid plastic bags.
Because plastic retains moisture and our transit setup lacks commercial hydration misters, some greens may wilt in transit. If your produce looks floppy when you receive it, simply trim the stems, submerge the ends in water, and place it in the refrigerator to rehydrate.
Supporting Local Agriculture
Between high development pressure on open land and the financial strains of farming, Connecticut is fortunate to maintain a vibrant agricultural economy. Building a resilient, local food system takes all of us working together. Thank you for your patience and for investing in the future of Connecticut’s local farms!
