The New Hampshire real estate market continues to show steady activity as we head into fall. Home values remain strong, while more homes are coming onto the market, giving buyers more options, and breathing room than we’ve seen recently.
For sellers, demand remains healthy and well-priced homes are still attracting attention. For buyers, the increase in inventory is a welcome change and may create more opportunities to find the right home without quite as much pressure. Overall, we’re seeing a market that feels a little more balanced while still holding strong.
🍂 October Homeowner Tips - It's officially feeling like fall
It's time to check your windows and doors for drafts, and replace worn weatherstripping. You can be fancy like me, and put those clear plastic sheets over any problem windows, to add another barrier against the cold. Don't forget to finish the process with the hair dryer!
Test smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors- this is especially important before you start using fireplaces, woodstoves, and other heating systems regularly. There are tons of options for mounted or plug in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors on Amazon!
Prepare your lawn- keep mowing until growth slows (I may or may not be slacking on this, my yard is a bit of a jungle with all this rain lately!) Rake leaves, and perform your fall lawn fertilization.
Be festive, embrace the season, and add some mums and pumpkins to your front entrance!
K9 Fall Safety Tips 🐾
Continue checking your dog for ticks- It was a pretty quiet summer for ticks in New Hampshire's White Mountains. There was an abundance earlier in the spring/summer, but my experience this year was overall not bad at all. However, I did find a tick on my dog just yesterday so we're not in the clear just yet. I can highly recommend Wondercide sprays to keep ticks and fleas at bay- I've actually stopped using traditional flea and tick medications this year, after using them for over a decade, and still having two dogs test positive for Lyme disease. The Wondercide has been an easy replacement!
Keep your dog visible after dark- the days are getting shorter, and it's getting dark earlier. Keeping your dog in a fenced area after dusk, or having them wear reflective gear can give you peace of mind that they're not outside being feral and joining a pack of coyotes :) I have noticed a lot more animal activity on my property as we head into the colder weather.
Keep an eye on things like wild mushrooms, acorns, and fallen fruit which can be toxic to dogs.
