Dear Fam,

When I started working on A Deviant Time, one of the things I wanted to make sure I did was up the ante when it came to the sequel in the series. I was determined to make sure that A Deviant Time was more The Empire Strikes Back or Aliens and less Speed 2 or Batman and Robin. (And if you got all those references, YOU ARE MY PEOPLE!)

So when I opened my laptop and started writing, the idea came to me that this book needed more action. More adventure. More moments when the reader says, “They did WHAT NOW?!”

That's when it hit me. There needs to be a heist.

Who loves a good heist movie? 🙋🏽‍♀️

I love them so much. There's just something about a gang of random folks, each with a particular specialty, coming together to pull off a job that's extremely risky and one that can't be pulled off by a singular person. It forces everyone to work together for the success of the mission, even if they don't actually like each other.

But wait, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I'm not going to tell you why there's a heist in A Deviant Time. I'm also not going to tell you who is involved in this heist. And I'm certainly not going to tell you the outcome of the heist. I'm simply going to tell you that one exists in this book, and I guarantee that it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. I can't wait for you to read it.

So what's your favorite heist movie? Here are mine:
  1. Ocean's Eleven--for obvious reasons. Star-studded cast (RIP Bernie Mac). Impossible job. So much fun to watch.
  2. Now You See Me--Heist plus magic? Yes, please!
  3. Widows--Give me a heist but make it female AND do it in Chicago? Say less.
I want you to keep these movies in mind as you read A Deviant Time. You'll be able to see how they inspired me!

What are YOUR favorite heist movies? I want to know! Please tell me via email at hello@elisabethroseland.com.

And do you want to read about the heist before everyone else?

ARC readers will receive a copy of A Deviant Time on Friday, October 9th. ARC acceptance emails go out every Tuesday and Friday, so if you apply, make sure you check your email to see if you are chosen. Oh, and whitelist hello@elisabethroseland.com to make sure my emails don't get flagged as spam.
