OPEN-HEARTED
 
If you broke my heart
wide open,
it would feel
just like Autumn—
 
a wild entanglement of leaves
with moss and ferns
lining the bottom.
 
It would be glowing
like the reflections
of an amber stone.
 
It would smell
of pine needles;
 
It would feel like home.
