In a world where talk therapy can sometimes fall short, where the skills learned in traditional therapy may not translate to your daily life, and where the healing power of art, movement, and nature resonates with you, there's a place for you: Rooted Compassion Counseling and Consulting. |

This week we are excited to be highlighting our clinical director and the most down to earth person around, Alison Savage, LPCC-S. With over 20 years of therapeutic experience, training, and consulting at her disposal, Alison approaches therapy backed by neuroscience and through the lens of polyvagal theory. All you need is a few minutes with Alison to understand the passion she has for her craft and the joy that she finds in helping people get in touch with their nervous systems to find healing. Alison is especially passionate about helping those struggling with life transitions, grief, and trauma. She is a strong proponent of the belief that doing grief work alongside trauma healing is one of the most effective ways to find deep, restorative healing. She is EMDR trained and is in training to become a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. Alison believes that EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and healing through the lens of the nervous system relies on the rhythm of the therapeutic connection between client and therapist, just as it relies on the connection between self and the nervous system. She is there to be present with you as you unlock stress stuck in your system, and lead you to a more rhythmic way of being. Over the past year Alison has given multiple talks and trainings including one at the American Counseling Association’s annual conference this past April titled “Reimagining Supervision Through Polyvagal & Somatic Pathways” where she demonstrated how embodied awareness in supervision can foster safety, atunement, creativity, and professional growth. Alison’s passion for therapeutic growth is two fold; working with clients in the therapeutic process to find healing and growth, as well as investing in the growth and knowledge of fellow therapists with her trainings. Alison does not see her work as being linear. The flow of embodied confidence that she instills in others has a ripple effect that moves outward from her center, making waves not only in the lives of her clients, but in the lives of the clients families and friends, the clinicians she supervises and trains, and their clients and so on. Her approach is holistic; what she gives comes back to her and that is what she hopes for everyone who walks through her door. In her free time, you can find Alison cheering her kids on from the sideline, sipping a cup of coffee by a river, or having a good laugh with her beloved husband Jeff. Alison is currently fully booked, but reach out today if you’d like to get on her waitlist! Click here to reach out to our practice manager! |
