A message from Mayor Geoff Seymour
As the vibrant colours of autumn return to Bay Roberts, I am pleased to welcome you to the fall edition of the Klondyke Gazette. This is a wonderful time of year in our community, as we reflect on the accomplishments of the past several months and look forward to the many activities and celebrations still to come.
This year has been particularly meaningful as we celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Town of Bay Roberts' incorporation. It is an opportunity to recognize the generations of residents, volunteers, businesses and community leaders who have helped shape our town into the place we are proud to call home. Our history is rich, but it is the continued dedication and community spirit of our residents that will carry Bay Roberts into the future.
Throughout the year, Council and Town staff have continued working to improve municipal infrastructure, enhance public services and invest in the long-term growth of our community. These efforts are important to ensuring that Bay Roberts remains a welcoming, vibrant and sustainable place to live, work and visit. I would like to thank our residents for their patience and cooperation as this important work continues.
Autumn also brings one of our favourite seasonal celebrations, Fall in Love with Bay Roberts. With a wide variety of activities taking place throughout October and November, including community gatherings, family-friendly events, entertainment and Halloween festivities, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved. I encourage everyone to explore the schedule, support our local businesses and organizations, and take part in the celebrations.
As we approach the final months of 2026, I also want to recognize the countless volunteers, community groups, businesses and Town employees whose hard work and generosity contribute so much to Bay Roberts. Whether through organizing events, supporting neighbours or helping maintain the services we rely on, your contributions make a lasting difference.
On behalf of Council, I wish you and your families a safe, enjoyable and memorable autumn season. Thank you for your continued support and for the pride you take in our community.
The Town of Bay Roberts is inviting local businesses, community groups and organizations to be part of our upcoming Festival of Lights, taking place from November 25 to January 6!

Traffic Calming Measures Across Bay Roberts
As part of our ongoing efforts to improve road safety throughout the community, the Town of Bay Roberts has introduced several new traffic-calming measures, including three-way and four-way stop intersections and speed humps at various locations.
All newly installed stop-controlled intersections are now fully operational, including:
Shearstown Road / New Hill Road – 3-Way Stop
Central Street / Cross Road – 3-Way Stop
Water Street / Cross Road – 3-Way Stop
Neck Road / Kellys Road – 3-Way Stop
Klondyke / Water Street / Marina Place – 4-Way Stop
In addition, all newly installed speed humps have been painted to improve their visibility to approaching motorists.
Residents are reminded to observe posted signage, reduce their speed and exercise caution when travelling through these areas, particularly as drivers become familiar with the new traffic patterns.
Road Safety Reminder: At a three-way or four-way stop, all vehicles must come to a complete stop. The first vehicle to arrive generally proceeds first. When two vehicles arrive at the same time, the driver on the left must yield to the driver on the right. Always watch for pedestrians, cyclists and other vehicles before proceeding.
These improvements are part of the Town's ongoing commitment to creating safer streets for motorists, pedestrians and all road users.
Please refer to the accompanying map for the locations of all new stop-controlled intersections and speed humps installed as part of these traffic-calming measures.
The Water Street Phase 2 Infrastructure Project is ongoing.
The Town of Bay Roberts would like to advise residents that construction for the Water Street Phase 2 project is ongoing. Work in the area between Barracks Road and the Conception Bay Highway will include the installation of a new water line and storm sewer system.
As part of this work, Water Street will be closed between Roach Place and Barracks Road during construction hours. Water Street will remain open to local traffic only, with access maintained for residents.
Detour routes are clearly marked via Conception Bay Highway and Barracks Road, with an alternate route available via George Mercer Drive and Klondyke Causeway.
Residents and motorists should be prepared for increased construction activity, traffic delays, and temporary disruptions in the area while work is underway. Additional information regarding detours, road closures, and traffic impacts will be shared as construction progresses on social media and Voyent Alert! The Town appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as these important infrastructure upgrades are completed.
