BOGUS BASIN ROAD WORK
—
Despite recent El Nino outlook reports, I'm choosing optimism when it comes to this year's snow forecast. If you are too, this is must-have information due to its potential impact to the beginning of the ski season.
After rainfall from a summer storm caused a washout and significant pavement damage to Bogus Basin Road, ACHD declared an emergency to expedite repairs and minimize impact to the ski hill. Traffic is currently reduced to a single lane with a traffic signal for about 700 feet, and it's unclear whether that will remain throughout the work.
If you've ever driven that road, you know that it's a bit of a sweaty-palm situation at the best of times, so a few tips are in order for that first powder day:
- Leave early. Extra time is your best friend. 🕒
- Carpool. More friends, fewer cars, better snacks. 🥨
- Check before you go. Bogus Basin should share road and parking updates to their social pages. ⚠️
- Be kind at the signal. Everyone is going to the same snow. ⛷️
