Working For Our Good

We are back!! We have been missing in action for a few weeks due to very busy schedules and just needing a break. But thank you for your patience and still sticking with us as we get back to our regularly scheduled program!

One of my favorite scriptures is Romans 8:28, “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to His purpose for them.” It always gives me a different perspective when I feel like nothing is working out in my favor. But irrelevant to my emotions at the time God works in ALL things and I have come to realize that sometimes the issue is me. Either I haven't taken the initiative to do my part or I haven't taken advantage of the opportunities within my reach. A few weeks ago I started researching local resources and how they can help us with our company goals to  better assist entrepreneurs and those searching for employment during this pandemic.

I found that just about every state has their own certification program for underrepresented minority small businesses and they have mandated goals to spend a certain percentage of their funding with certified minority businesses. As an added bonus, private companies often use the state's database as a trusted source for services, products and partnerships. In other words, they are looking for you, so let's show them what we have to offer! For Virginia specifically there are opportunities to receive funding for services and products without going through the proposal process. For example, if they need supplies, training, or catering for their office and/or events they can award a contract to your company directly for purchases under $5K. I encourage you to contact your local chamber of commerce for additional information on your state's programs and opportunities.

If you are in Virginia, the Northern Virginia Black Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a workshop tomorrow to discuss Virginia's Small, Women-owned, and Minority-owned Business (SWaM) certification program. You can register for the event here or visit Virginia's Small Business & Supplier Diversity's website for more information.

To me these resources and opportunities are God ordained but we have to do some legwork to receive the full benefits. If you have any questions don't hesitate to hit the reply button and ask!
