I drove everyone around me crazy this week trying to land on a newsletter name. Even my kids were like FOR THE LOVE OF GOD just pick something already you are killing us. I'd pop out of random corners of the house and be like, “how about this name? What do you think of this? Is this stupid? Is this corny? But, like, is this catchy?" No one was amused.
I wanted the name to scream “oh she's totally Lebanese” mixed with “oh that's so Deema.” And what I landed on is honestly perfect.
If you know me well, you know what I mean when I say I'm an avid thanker. I'm the type of person that if you do something even remotely nice to me, I will thank you a million times, be eternally grateful and never forget. I'm not even kidding when I tell you that I used to cry when I received gifts as a kid. And I received gifts regularly, and probably more than your average kid.
I thank my husband all day long saying things like, “Hey baby, thanks for taking out the trash, thanks for picking up the kids, and hey thank you for allowing me to share the same oxygen as you in this house.” I'm an incredibly grateful annoying human being. I AM WHO I AM. Did I mention how grateful I am that you're subscribed to my emails?
*insert happy tears*
And because Lebanese people are notorious for mixing Arabic, French, and English in every day language, I had the perfect name for your little avid thanker: "Merci Ktir," a commonly used phrase in Lebanon and one that I use way too much. Merci means thank you in French, and Ktir (pronounced KTEER) means a lot in Arabic. But seriously, Merci Ktir for being here.
