Well hey there First name / friend!

First, we hope that you are doing okay. These are definitely complex times in the world, and we hope that you are taking care of yourself.

Tiffany here, and today I'd like to share with you two podcasts that I really enjoyed listening to this week, in hopes that they will inspire you!

I've been listening to the Huberman Lab Podcast for about a year now, and I love it. It's hosted by Dr. Andrew Huberman, professor of neurobiology and ophthalmology at Stanford University School of Medicine. The podcast discusses neuroscience—how our brain and its connections with the organs of our body control our perceptions, our behaviors, and our health.

The two episodes I'm sharing today are about goal setting and mindset!

In the “Science of Setting and Achieving Goals”, Huberman riffs on why a healthy dose of negative thinking may actually be very crucial to achieving goals - among many other things. I wrote a blog post a few years ago titled “Don't Reach for the Stars”, and it had a much less sophisticated but similar vibe: imagine everything that could go wrong, and then imagine all the solutions.

I love this concept, and it's made me really think about what it means to be an optimist - or to think positive. I've decided it is all about being confident there are solutions when things go wrong - not assuming nothing will go wrong. Anyway, there are so many great tidbits in the episode, including a visual tool for getting your mind to focus on a goal that was pretty fascinating.

The second episode had me stopping on the sidewalk to type a few things so I wouldn't forget them, including the following statement.

Behaviors matter. And so do mindsets.

Optimize your Mindset”, was recorded with Dr. Alia Crum, Associate Professor of Psychology at Stanford University and a world expert on mindsets and beliefs and how they shape our responses to stress, exercise, and even to the foods we eat. A lot of the conversation was about how we shape our reactions to stress based on our preconceived notions about it. It was a wonderful reminder that not all stress is bad, and our mindsets are absolutely crucial in supporting or hindering our behaviors.

You can read more about all of this in the blog post today!
