Current Topic: It's All Cheap

This is the same Korean Beauty brand as the Lash Up-Rising Mascara that (almost) everyone I know that has tried, loves.  I gave it to one of my friends and this weekend she texted me back that it was LEGIT!  If you haven't tried the Joah Mascara yet you are missing out.  But this is about the Tinted Luminizer and I feel pretty strongly about it too.  This has become my everyday “just enough” coverage, but can also be used with foundation.  It has a super soft blending brush on one end but I just swipe it on my face and blend with a Beauty Blender.  It is sold at select CVS stores, Amazon and Joahbeauty.com.  If you are worried about a shade match Joahbeauty.com has a “find my shade” feature that is very accurate.   I just typed in the brand and shade of my current foundation and it suggests a match.  It was spot on.  Here is also an article from Goop.com on how to find your perfect shade online.

I love really good quality makeup brushes.  I own several of the Westman Atelier brushes and they are the best, however I have not rushed to buy her eyeshadow brushes because these super cheap Ecotools brushes have been getting the job done for at least 2 years.  Specifically I use the one 2nd from the right (on my lid) and the one 2nd from the left (as a crease blender) everyday.  It is $7 for the entire set and they have held up beautifully.  I'm thinking about ordering several of these brushes to have as a travel set making packing and unpacking easier this summer.

The parking lot situation for both of the TJ's in Charlotte is terrible.  One is a parking deck without enough spaces and the other has spaces so narrow it would be hard for a Yugo to slide in easily.  All of that to say, I am strategic when I go and have certain things I like to stock up on.  This Shave Cream is one of the things I never leave without and most of the time I grab 4 or 5.  My girls love it too.  It kind of smells like a snowcone stand at the beach.  In a very good way.  I discovered this from a friend who is the ultimate hostess and had it waiting for me in a welcome basket at her beach house (along with a barefoot dreams robe, but that is a story for another issue).

If I didn't already own 752 types of bags and totes and beach bags I would have bought this yesterday in Target.  In fact as I write this I am mentally cleaning out my closet to find space for it. The shape is like the Bogg Bags and is plastic so it's waterproof.  It reminds me of the colourful woven Mexican totes that are everywhere right now but with a sturdier feel.  It also comes in a solid teal but I prefer the ombre.

I saw some influencers talking about the Halo Face Pads and was interested in trying in place of my Makeup Eraser.  I saw these at Target and figured they were a perfect dupe.  I'm not sure they are, but they certainly get the job done when it comes to taking off makeup and (washable) mascara.  I use one side with water just to do my initial swipe and add cleanser to the other side for a really clean face.  I think it is the same type of fabric used in the Makeup Eraser, its just smaller and easier to use in my opinion.

I heard about this on a Westman Atelier Zoom event sponsored by Woo in Charlotte.  As I mentioned above I think Gucci Westman makes the best brushes and this is what she reccommends using to get the white bristles of her brushes looking like new.  I spray it on my brushes and just wipe them on a towel.   It smells like Wine Away and works like magic.  I've also been told to buy the big bottle and pour it in a glass and just let brushes that are really really dirty soak.

I have started using gel eyeliner to tightline my eyes.  If you don't know what tightlinig is, it is placing eyeliner just below the upper lash line.  It gives a subtle definition to your eyes and makes your lashes look thicker at the base without taking up any precious eyelid real estate.  Since this liner is gel it goes on super smooth and its waterproof so it stays on throughout the day.  This is the same brand as the luminizer above. I can't figure out why more influencers aren't talking about Joah.  I have loved everything I have tried.

After a few requests I am working on a full issue on fighting the toll that time has taken on our necks.  In the process this Gold Bond Neck and Chest Cream keeps popping up on different lists as an affordable option.  I first saw this in my mom's cabinet, and if you know Susan you know she is very very low maintenance.  If she is using it, its mandatory for the rest of us.

Thanks for stopping by!

This is Issue 7 of The Style Gathering newsletter.  Those of you who know me know I used to write a blog by the same name so I just ran with it and used it here.  It actually makes sense because most  items you will see here are things I have gathered together because I have heard about them from a friend or an Instagram account of an influencer who I think is my friend.  If you like it please forward to your friends and they can
