Happy Artist Thoughts are short and sweet emails offering tips and ideas for your Happy Artist Life, tried and tested by me! You can expect little nuggets every couple of weeks that inspire, motivate, offer relief, or make you think. Where Artnotes are a deep dive, Happy Artist Thoughts are a quick little spark. If you use one and love it, let me know!

What are you thinking?

No, I'm not talking about your latest creation. 😆

I'm talking about what's actually going on in your brain when you think about making your art, or when you are in the middle of making it.

However you feel about affirmations, or mantras, or whatever you want to call choosing more positive thoughts, at the most basic level, thoughts that support are going to help more than thoughts that hurt or diminish.

So it behooves us to choose them as much as possible, right?

I like to write them on post it notes and stick them up in my house and studio. They can say anything at all as long as it's encouraging, kind, positive, and causes you to feel motivated.

If I don't have them where I can see them, I forget, and my brain leaps at the opportunity to stay in its cosy habitual negative grooves.

We have to take ownership of our thoughts if we're going to live our truest happy artist lives.

I love this one from Modigliani - who knew he'd be a source of positive thinking?!

“I am now rich in fruitful ideas and I must produce my work.”
Amedeo Modigliani

What will you write on the studio wall?

MAY YOU BE RICH IN FRUITFUL IDEAS!

-Tara

PS. June is Plein Air Month in the Happy Artist Studio, even if you don't think working outdoors is for you! We've got a super flexible challenge, and a fantastic workshop from my friend and artist Shilpa Agashe. Plus the usual Q&A video, our lovely community full of artists creating their artist lives just like you, and lots of courses to support you in building yours inside!

And a quick heads up - my course Into Nature will be going to live exclusively in the Studio from June 20th, so if you've had your eye on that one and would like lifetime access to it, now is the time to sign up! It's a rich and diverse course about creating art with and in nature, and you can find out more about it here!

If you found value in this email, please forward it to a friend or two! And if you are that friend, you can learn more about my work and sign up to receive your own here.
Alternatively, you can use the button below to make a small donation,
which is always deeply appreciated.
