Let's break down the energetic opportunities at hand and what to be mindful of on our daily journeys…
The Sun and the New Moon align in Aries just one day after the equinox!
If the last month (or even a few months) have been difficult, you're not alone. The beginning of a calendar year is anything but a fresh start for us as energy beings. As the last zodiac and a water sign that rules the 12th House of spirituality, healing, endings, and the subconscious, Pisces's season ushers in a time of completion. It's potent with opportunities to reflect, and if we resist or refuse, its energy finds a way to pull us into ourselves, dragging us into the known, unknown, and hidden material that creates the barrier between us and the version of us that we dream of.
But alas, loves… we've made it to the other side! The equinox! Occurring twice a year, the equinox is the day when the hours of light and darkness are closest to being in equal balance. For us in the northern hemisphere, it signals the start of spring, and for those in the southern hemisphere, the start of autumn. Because all of our members are in the north, this is more than just the entrance of spring. It's a time of personal and collective renewal. It's an energy portal inviting us to shift our perspective and output, and for many of us, our input too. Ask yourself:
- As I step out of a season marked by the solstice, what clarity was I offered about myself?
- What clarity do I have about my relationships and connections?
- What clarity do I have about the work I'm here to do?
- What questions can I answer now that I couldn't answer before?
- What new questions do I have?
The Sun's Equinox is accompanied by the Moon's shift into Aries, marking a new lunar cycle focused on taking action. This is the first of two New Moons in Aries, the next one is a total Solar Eclipse on April 20, so this is big-time energizing energy that we're working with. If anything, we must consider what type of action we're taking because we're definitely moving.
At its highest vibration, Aries defies what it means to lead with action. Like the curly-horned ram that it's represented by, Aries is known to dive headfirst into what it is they're passionate about at any moment, thanks to the energy from its ruler, Mars, the planet of action and aggression. Bring yourself into stillness and feel all of the areas of your life being reenergized, your entire existence buzzing with Divine promise.
While an Aries New Moon is about new beginnings and making moves, we need to be fully aware of what we're putting into motion and how it will serve us and the world at large. Aries' shadow is impulsive, reactive, and hot-headed – not qualities we want to succumb to right now. We're in a position to make more empowered and aligned decisions now, especially after the clarity we were positioned to receive during the first quarter of the year.
With all planets direct for about another month (until Mercury stations retrograde), the energy around us is all GO and no STOP. As I said in
our last Cosmic Insights, it is one of a train with no breaks that's just getting faster. This is an energetic train we won't be able to get off of, so choose your decisions, behaviors, thoughts, and actions wisely – it'll be tough to reroute down the line. Ask yourself:
- Thinking back to the New Moon in Aries last year in March 2022, what actions was I taking then? What actions was I considering taking then compared to those I'm considering now?
- If I could make anything happen right now, regardless of what it would take to do so, what would I do?
Adding oomph to this new beginning energy is the fact that the New Moon is in harmonious aspect to Saturn and Pluto. Saturn, the planet of time, responsibility, and karma, is newly in Pisces. And Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, is in go-getter Capricorn before entering Aquarius on March 23.
These are both huge cosmic moments that astrologers all over the globe have been talking about for years.
I talked all about it and why it's massively important in our last Cosmic Insights, but what I can say about Pluto is that its sign changes are always significant, ushering in major changes and the start of new eras in our evolutionary journey. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius, a sign that's all for collective revolution, was from 1778 to 1798, the Age of Reason, also known as the Age of Enlightenment. If that doesn't tell you what time it is right now, what this moment and what 2023 is really about…! Tap in! Move or be moved!
What it means for us: The Sun, New Moon, Mercury, Chiron, Jupiter, Vesta and Eris are all in Aries!
Aries holds a cosmic congregation, each body radiating its own inspiration, its own energy, its opportunity for us to excel on our healing and evolutionary journey. We just broke down the Sun and Moon's energy in Aries and what it means for us, but let's break the rest of them down:
The Sun is coming out of a conjunction with delusional Neptune and also coming out of dreaming-from-our-subconscious Pisces season, so while we're going feel lighter and ready to run full speed ahead, we have to be mindful of not being impulsive and reacting hastily right now. "I think before I speak or act" should be an affirmation right now.
Mercury, the planet of communication in Aries could also make us verbally reactive or quick to put our ideas in motion. It could also (definitely) make for spit fire thoughts, which if you're not used to it like a Gemini would be, you'll need to make time for activities that calm the mind like meditation.
Jupiter, the planet of expansion, and Chiron, the comet named "Wounded Healer," also in Aries, were in conjunction last weekend. Think of them as the Wise Teacher, the one who's been hurt a lot, so it shows up to guide you towards better. This energy encourages us to say NO MORE to the patterns and behaviors that continue to sabotage our potential and connection to our higher self. Be mindful that sometimes we have to say NO to others, but most times, we also need to say it to ourselves.
Eris is a dwarf planet that represents chaos, strife, and discord. In Aries, it gives us the fortitude (and quite frankly, the balls) we need to stand up for what we believe in, to be the first to take action on our dreams and ideas. This is chaotic energy with a purpose here, but still, be mindful not to burn up in flames in the process. Make time to tap into your soul and soften often this week and this season.
Vesta, the asteroid named after a Roman goddess and guardian of the hearth and home who represents harvest and abundance. Vesta in Aries comes along to ensure that this is a moment of harvesting the fruits of our labor so far, especially emotionally if we've had a trying start to 2023. This energy also reminds us that caring for our health and wellness is vital to all abundance.
What it means for us: Venus moves into Taurus.
From March 16 until April 10, Venus, the planet of love, relationships, and money, will be in Taurus, the earth sign associated with stability, reliability, and groundedness. Taurus is ruled by Venus, so they're "home" with each other, giving us delicious energy to tap into when it comes to commitment – a theme we should focus on as we enter this energetic portal and look forward to the rest of the year.
Venus in Taurus knows that love is the only goal and that it is in all places. This energy knows and supports doing the work to build towards the reality you want because that's where satisfaction is, and where there is satisfaction, there is joy, and where there is joy, there is love.
This is a time to put energy into the connections and habits you want to stay committed to and the relationships that have stood the test of time. Especially the ones that have seen you through your most uncertain times. Write a few calendar reminders to nurture yourself in those new ways that you're trying, as well as a reminder to FaceTime your family and friends. Say thank you. Tell them they're beautiful. Add energetic cement to your relationship foundations.
