What we did last monthโ€ฆ

So as you all know we just got back from our holiday in Kefalonia, Greece! We don't usually take so many holidays ๐Ÿ˜‚ but this one has been booked for about three years. It was originally booked for Roses's mum's 70th birthday present!

We've been to Kefalonia two times before, and the last time was really magical, and honestly, life-changing. I sometimes think we need a big break from life to reassess our situation and think about things. I think it was 2016 that we last went, and I picked a book off a shelf in a restaurant called The Wish List, about a girl who writes a bucket list of things to do before she turns 30. So, I wrote my own bucket list, the top of the list being LEARN TO DRIVE, and it took me a while, but I did it!

Well, this holiday was exactly the same, it has kicked started me into wanting to change lots of things. What's so crazy is that on holiday all my eczema came back! I had eczema all over my body my entire life until I went completely vegan years ago, and it made me realize that it was the dairy that gave me eczema. When I got pregnant I could eat whatever I wanted which was amazing! But it's all worn off now, so I definitely need to make some changes to my diet. What are you guys changing in your life? Or do you not need to change anything?

It's funny because I read a lot of body positivity stuff that says there's no such thing as 'good' and 'bad' foods, but I think there are bad foods if they make you poorly!

(This email may have been cut short: there is more below here.

But anyway - back to the holiday. We survived a three-hour plane delay on the way there AND a delay on the way back and now we feel like super women! We honestly feel like we can take Ziggy anywhere now, we are so confident! We had an amazing time, we spent most mornings on the beach, and Ziggy LOVED the sea, he is totally fearless and just dragged me straight in! He's also amazing at rock climbing, I have no idea where he got these skills from but he climbed up an entire giant rock (with me watching over him obviously)! He napped really well after all the playing and Rose and I got deadly serious about competing each other at table tennis. Unfortunately for me Rose and her whole family are really good at it, but I played her Dad and I KNOW he let me win.๐Ÿ˜‚

Then we would take Ziggy in the swimming pool in the afternoons and out to dinner every night. We also cut down on his screen time massively when we were out there and it made me think about my own screen time. Rose has stopped watching TikTok before bed, because it's so addictive and was keeping her up. Once I've quit caffeine my next job is to watch my screen time and lower that. I'd be really interested to know how much screen time you froggies use per day. Let me know! I think mine is really bad and I definitely want to cut down.

Lots of crazy things have happened to friends and family recently that have left us feelinh incredibly grateful for our lives. Laura Dix's partner accidentally severed his fingers off using a strimmer in the garden! And our friend contacted us with the sad and unexpected news that her Dad passed away very suddenly. These things remind you how precious life is and how things can change so quickly. So it's made me feel extra appreciative and grateful for what I have.

Talking of grateful.... When we got into England after our three and a half hour flight that was DELAYED and Ziggy hadn't slept for about 13 hours... I'd never felt more grateful for Rose in my life! Because Ziggy didn't sleep, he got the ZOOMIES and was running and crawling around the airport, he was literally shouting RUN AWAY!! I was trying to catch him and keep him safe while Rose was handling all the luggage, carrying food and coffee (our last one before we quit) and then Ziggy pressed the emergency help button in the lift ๐Ÿ˜‚ it was a NOIGHTMARE but Rose was amazing. She drove on the other side of the road in Kefalonia in a manual (stick) car like a BOSS. I feel very blessed that she's my wife.

And it was her birthday while we were in Kef! For her birthday I gave her her presents before we left so I didn't have to take them abroad - I got her a Hotel Chocolat velvetizer and it is INCREDIBLE.

It's also our Aga cookery course coming up that I got Rose for Valentine's day! I'm so excited!

Things we liked

Here are some things we've been absolutely loving this month!

01 / WORDLE
Oh my god we have finally got into wordle! No spon at all!! I got interested when I watched Laura Dix struggle with her wordle of the day on holiday. Since Rose and I have banned lots of social media before bed (like TikTok etc.) we snuggle up in bed and play WORDLE together hahahahah. We absolutely love it and try to race eachother to get the wordle right!

02 / NINTENDO SPORTS
I got this for Rose for her birthday and we LOVE IT. We love playing badminton and tennis on it, and Rose and I are big fans of playing those in real life as well. I remember when I was heavily pregnant and we went to centre parcs and played badminton! We're going to get a net so we can play whenever we have free time.

03 / HOTEL CHOCOLAT VELVETIZER
I also got this for Rose for her birthday and we are obsessed! We've both given up caffeine as we've found out anxiety has seriously lessenead without it. So now we have a lovely hot chocolate to fulfil our hot drink craving! They also do vegan ones which are also gluten free which is great as all my intolerances are back. The only downside is they are pricey else we'd be drinking them 24/7!

04 / INSECT LORE BUTTERFLY GROWERS
Oh. My. God. You guys. This is the coolest thing ever! Our friend is sending us this for Ziggy's birthday and we can't wait! Our friend does this with her child every year - you get caterpillars who make the chrysalis (cocoon) and then eventually become butterflies that you release into your garden! Our friends daughter had a butterfly hatch with a crumpled wing. They called the butterfly 'Tiny' and her daughter was able to carry Tiny around on her finger and fed her fruit! They used to watch tv together and even sleep next to each other!!!!!

05 / OUR FIVE NEW RESIDENTS
I counted 5 baby swallows we've discovered in a nest under our porch!! We put bird seed out to feed the birds and they literally eat ALL of it in less than 48 hours!! It's insane! We also have a family of pigeons who live in our bushes! And let's not forget we already house the bats! ๐Ÿ˜‚ When we get our chickens we might as well open a small zoo!

Frog of the month ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ‘‘

Congratulations, Ciara! This is such important work and we are so proud of you!

I've just received my university results and I got a first class in Journalism at 27 whilst working a full time job. I had to produce a short documentary, which I did on the high rates of male suicide, and it is now being used in a male suicide prevention initiative and has been nominated for an award at the BJTC journalism awards in November.

This was all inspired after myself and my family went through something awful with my brother in 2018 and he is featured in the documentary.

So proud of myself after spending three years working so hard at uni and my job and never having a minute to myself. Goes to show that hard work pays off!!

The Cosy Coven
Right now, it Cancer season until 22 July!

Cancers are driven by the element of water and they are known for their deep sensitivity, intuition, and strong emotional connections. They're very empathetic people, often taking on the role of caretaker in their relationship!

It is believed that during this season, individuals born under the Cancer sign or influenced by its energy may find themselves seeking comfort and security within their close relationships and home environment. They may experience heightened emotions and a desire for emotional intimacy, often expressing their feelings through acts of kindness and care.
.
Now, when it comes to birthstones and crystals, the star of the show is Moonstone. This gemstone resonates with Cancer's intuitive nature and is thought to enhance emotional balance and intuition.

P.S.: Back when we did our big survey, Cancer was the most common star sign among you so we know there are loads of you that just had their birthdays or are celebrating in the next few weeks! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ๐ŸŽ‚

I managed to make huge strides in redecorating my bedroom (which Iโ€™ve been meaning to do for over a year), and managing to actually keep it tidy.

recently i asked the girl that i have been seeing to be my girlfriend. she said yes which is amazing but because of my ex i have a lot of trouble trusting people and telling people how iโ€™m feeling so i was very worried this was going to be a problem. after she left my house last night i had this gut feeling that i did something wrong and made her not like me anymore i had a feeling i had upset her. obvs i cried about a little first because i hate communicating but after crying over it i thought i might aswell try and communicate with her as i could be crying over literally nothing. long story short i was crying over nothing. this story might have been a little pointless but thatโ€™s just something iโ€™m proud of myself for, anyways f my ex lol.

My husband and I are closing on our new house on Friday, started a new job this month, and I just found out I am pregnant!

I really love to sing, but for a long time Iโ€™ve been terrified of ever doing it in public. However, last week I forced myself to confront my fears and I sang karaoke in a restaurant bar, and it went really well! Lots of people were cheering and a few even recorded it, and it gave me a ton of confidence!

I am a Speech-Language Pathologist who virtually provides speech and language therapy to children in schools. I recently received a promotion to Assistant Clinical Director of my company. That means I will not only get the chance to work with students, but I also will get the chance to train and support new therapists at my company next school year. I am excited that my company recognizes my potential and I'm excited for the new challenge.
