Dear First name / friend,
Here is your friendly Tuesday reminder that no one is thinking about you as much as you are thinking about yourself.
That spelling error in your Instagram caption? Only one person noticed, and no, they don't think you're a complete and total idiot now.
That testimonial on your about page that you were nervous to have on there? (Y'know, the one that speaks to your character and how amazing everyone thinks you are?) Someone read it and briefly thought, “Damn, she sounds really cool!" and then moved on to your contact page to send an inquiry.
That TikTok you made with the hot takes about your industry? The one you almost didn't post because you were worried you sounded like a bitch? It got a 20% view-to-like ratio
(which is amazing), and the only reason 80% of people scrolled away is because they only opened the app to see what
Melodie the Cavapoo was doing—
not because they hate you.
I get it, I get it. Being visibly online is kinda cringe. (And emotionally, it's way easier to be cool and mysterious.)
But as someone who used to try so hard to be cool and mysterious, lemme tell you—you make waaaaaaaay less connections that way.
(And have way less fun. And attract less of your dream clients & collaborators.)
As the TikTokers say, “Don't kill the part of you that's cringe. Kill the part of you that cringes.”
xoxo,
Kleist
