Ullukkut! Thank you for joining the Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit Embrace Life Council's (IIKELC) bi-monthly newsletter. We are Nunavut's territory-wide suicide prevention non-profit organization and our mission is to support and encourage Nunavummiut to embrace life. We are committed to offering mental health resources and opportunities to promote community wellness among youth and adults throughout Nunavut.

September is a very special month for us at Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit Embrace Life Council as we prepare to honour Embrace Life Day, September 10th, which is also known as the World Suicide Prevention Day. We would like to remind you that it is important to reach out during the good and hard times. In honour of this day, we encourage you to connect with those within your community to show support for each other.

We also wanted to take the opportunity to encourage you to participate in an action item in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30th. This day is a day to remember and grieve all the children who never returned home due to the violence of the residential school system, as well as to honour all the survivors of residential schools along with their families and communities. Orange Shirt Day also falls on September 30th and recognizes the intergenerational impacts of the residential school system. Here are some ways in which you can show your support this month:
We hope you are able to find the time to attend or participate in a meaningful event that acknowledges and honours the legacy of stolen children and/or contributes to awareness around suicide prevention and life promotion. Thank you for your continued support.
