Welcome to your November edition of The Spill!

This month, we're focusing our attention on activism, raising awareness and taking care of our mental health in light of the current events in Palestine. The last few weeks have been pretty dark for a lot of us, and it's hard to maintain a positive mindset in the midst of all the chaos. To that extent, we'll revisit some of our past pieces looking at colonial violence, the power of language, and Islamophobia, and we compiled a list of resources to educate yourself about Palestine and stay on top of the situation.

It's important to highlight that:
  1. We stand with Palestinians. Not but or if, we stand with them against oppression, fight for freedom and justice.
  2. Standing with Palestinians doesn't equate being Antisemitic. Don't let political games get the best of you. Standing against Israel is standing against Islamophobia and anti-Seminitism, and fighting for freedom and justice.
  3. Ceasefire now! The band of Gaza has now been bombarded for a month, non-stop, and the Israeli government has repeatedly and continuously broken several international humanitarian laws, with the support of some world leaders.
  4. Donate Now, Take Action! Several organisations are helping Palestinians on the ground, give whatever you can. Whether it's money, time or material resources.
  5. Attend your local / national protest for Palestine. Several organisations help gather people from all corners of the UK and beyond borders to support the Palestinians and the ceasefire. Next ont in London, this Saturday (info below).
The Palestinians need our help. Fighting for Palestinian freedom today is standing against all forms of oppressions and accounts of genocides around the world. Other countries and communities are suffering in silence today. Breaking the silence on Palestine is a way to break the silence and help other voices be heard (our thoughts also go to other countries and communities facing genocide e.g. Sudan, Congo, Uyghurs in China, Ethiopia, Myanmar, and more. Make yours count!
