Delicious: At-home seasonal sip ‘n’ paints are taking over Tiktok. Elevate the evening with a sophisticated and silly charcuterie board guaranteed to awaken taste buds from the dead. Marissa Mullen, aka ThatCheesePlate on the socials, pairs your favorite Halloween candy with yummy cheeses like aged gouda, manchego, triple crème, and more. (Food52)
Decadent: Indie cool-kid A24 and AMC presents Thrills & Chills, one-night-only theatrical releases of their most popular horror films. Indulge in a Nordic “last meal” before catching Midsommar on the big screen in all its daylight gore-y. (AMC)
Different: As any witch knows, brooms have long been used to sweep away negative intentions and protect homes from sinister energy. Your Roomba could never. October always feels like a pivotal month for me. The brisk breeze signals change, and this sagittarius lives for it. As a born adventurer, settling for the conventional has never been my thing, which is why a “traditional” marriage proposal never sat right with me.

Autumn never fails to remind me of the rather unconventional way I got engaged. Six years ago, I was on the cusp of a big life change. I was about to embark on a journey that would take me away from my home and somehow back to it, all at once. (read more)

Steal This Itinerary: Cher NOLA

Quick, easy, and budget-friendly travel ideas including unexpected locales and original takes on classic destinations—perfect for adventurous couples or families looking to get off the beaten path. This month, we're spending 72 hours in New Orleans – a city that may go even harder for Halloween than its famed Mardi Gras festivities.

When to go: As one of the most haunted cities in the US, anytime is a ghoul time to visit NOLA. But if you want to catch the Krewe of BOO parade (and you really do), plan to be in town by Saturday, October 21st.
Where to stay: The Big Easy has no shortage of luxe accommodations with old world charm. In the mood for something a little more bohemian? Check out The Drifter, a renovated motel geared towards young and young-at-heart travelers “inspired by subcultural noncomformity."
What to eat: The trouble with a culinary destination this rich in tradition is where not to eat. Start with a bag of blood (red sangria) at the Vampire Cafe, splurge on dinner at the famous Commander's Palace, indulge in a decadent dessert at Jewel of the South, and wrap up the evening with a speakeasy bar crawl where the only prohibition enforced is the one on mobile phones.
What to do/see: Day and night, walking tours are the best way to get acquainted with the history and mystique of New Orleans. For fans of true crime with an iron stomach, the Museum of Death never disappoints and the city's cemeteries house a who's who of scandalous historical figures. Just be sure to bring an offering lest you return home with uninvited hangers-on.
