what can you take off your plate?

How to stop feeling overwhelmed.

It's that time of year when all the “doing” can really start getting to you. You've been working hard all semester and there's still lots to come.

Here's a reminder to take stock and ask yourself: what can I do a “little less” of?

What do I mean by that? Where can you lower your expectations? Self-imposed or expectations from others? What can you do a “little less perfectly” and still be okay? What can you let go of right now that can either wait until later or you simply allow to fade into the ether.

Examples:
  • Give yourself a reasonable amount of time to complete an assignment, paper or project, do your best, and then call it GOOD ENOUGH. Stop obsessing every little detail because it's probably just fine.

  • Stop saying yes to every invitation you get - social, academic or otherwise. If you are part of more than one organization, consider pulling back from attending every event or feeling like you always have to say yes because you are allowed to say NO THANK YOU.

  • Schedule a block of time where you DO NOTHING. I mean it. I know that might sound crazy, but try it. Even if it's just an hour. Give yourself permission to do nothing.
There are lots of ways we can practice saying no, doing less or at least doing things a little less perfectly and still be okay. Log into our 365 space and share how this is showing up for you.

Leave a comment and tell us how you're DOING LESS so that you can actually BE MORE. ✨
