What makes you feel expansive?
This question has been knocking on my intuition and brain all week. It also feels a little rebellious, this time of year is often about restriction, resolving to be better, and buckling down. Expansive? Really God (insert whatever higher power you connect with), what are you nudging me to share? And geesh, I'm still writing 2023, can you let me root in a little bit more to this crazy new year?
Googling the meaning and etymology of expansive didn't help me like it normally does. So before I go any further, here is the meaning I'm using for expansive (inspired by how I feel when I look at the image featured above):
- To broaden your reach and impact, to feel at once free and in great awe of the magic around you, to feel taken care of (expanding your capacity to receive and give), to feel inspired and to inspire others
When I close my eyes and allow myself to feel what expansive feels like, I feel fully free, lighter than I should (especially after a little indulging over the holidays), unconditional love, like little ol' me has the power to make great impact and ripple goodness out beyond my imagination, that my dreams matter and it's important for me to take the steps necessary to make them real, and that I am always safe and taken care of by God, the universe, and those around me.
What does expansive feel like to you? Can you leap forward to the end of this year and feel and envision your 2024 being more expansive than your wildest dreams? What does that look like for you?
If you feel called, go ahead and write these down on a dated piece of paper that you return to in 12 months, because well,
writing is magic.
Here are three things that I do regularly that help me feel more expansive:
- Daily meditation (yes even just one minute ones!)
- Keeping spaces clean and clear of clutter
- Spending time in nature
On the blog I ask more questions and provide a few more examples of tiny actions that can support you in embodying that feeling of expansion.
An intention for you: may you feel supported, empowered, and that you can trust YOU as you leap into the unknown of a new year
