Every month we pick a theme/challenge to inspire
personal exploration and insight sharing.
Whether conscious of it or not, your body is always breathing. The ebb and flow of breath is with us all day, every day. Sometimes, it's shallow and quick. Other times slow and steady.

When was the last time you stopped to notice your breath?

The breath is pretty amazing if you really think about it. We couldn't survive without it. It changes based on our environment. We might find it hard to breathe, and when we need it most, it can soothe us to sleep.

Your breath is a natural anchor point since it's always with you. When you feel stressed, try focusing on your breath. Breathe through your nose if you can, and elongate each inhale and exhale. Imagine your breath reaching all the way down into your belly.

As you begin a new year and semester, use your breath to anchor yourself to the present moment. I sometimes put on headphones without any music so that I can hear my breath. It helps me focus.

Try getting breathless a couple of times each week. Dance around your room or go for a brisk walk. See how that makes you feel. You strengthen your lung capacity when you challenge yourself.

You can use your breath to enhance your daily existence in so many ways. It's top of the list for regulating your nervous system and bringing your body back to calm after dealing with a stressful situation.

This month, I invite you to simply start noticing your breath. Use it as an anchor point when you can. Take pause and take a few deep breaths throughout your day. Use your breath to check in with yourself and ask how you're doing.

Click HERE to join Our Daily Breathe and learn how to cultivate a daily breathing practice. I'll teach you how to invite more calm + focus into your daily flow. Mark your calendar for our next mindfulness workshop, The Power of a Focused Mind, on Wednesday, February 7th!

Here's wishing you well and a great start to the New Year. ✨
