Our March meeting will be a special opportunity to meet with Cyrena 
Thibodeau from CT DoAg. Cyrena will talk about the general landscape of farming and aqucaculture in Connecticut and educate us on what falls under the department's purview, the many grant opportunities available and the challenges farmers face such as access to land, housing, and the impacts of climate change. We'll also discuss the exciting initiatives DoAg is funding, creating pathways towards a just, resilient and regional food system: farm to school, urban farming, hydroponics and more.

The overarching goal is to increase the number of acres in CT that are managed using climate smart land stewardship practices and encourage the use of climate smart practices among CT’s land trusts.

Local Agriculture Market Program (LAMP)
 
This is a big one! Includes resources ranging from regionalization - food loss and waste.
 
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the availability of approximately $26 million for the Local Agriculture Market Program (LAMP) to help local and regional food entities develop, coordinate, and expand producer-to-consumer marketing, local and regional food markets, and local food enterprises.
