Ullukkut! Thank you for joining the Isaksimagit Inuusirmi Katujjiqatigiit Embrace Life Council's (IIKELC) bi-monthly newsletter. We are Nunavut's territory-wide suicide prevention non-profit organization and our mission is to support and encourage Nunavummiut to embrace life. We are committed to offering mental health resources and opportunities to promote community wellness among youth and adults throughout Nunavut.

IIKELC is grateful to have once again been welcomed to communities across Nunavut this year to deliver a range of our workshops. We were fortunate enough to be able to reach 12 communities overall, who received a combined total of 8 Our Children, Our Responsibility workshops, 6 Reach Out workshops, 19 Trauma-Informed Practice workshops, an ASIST workshop, and our new Talking to Children about Suicide workshop.
I would like to thank each and every community we visited for their warmth, wisdom and willingness to discuss these topics. My thanks also go to our amazing facilitators for all their hard work and for making sure we are able to respond to as many requests for training as possible.

Atii Angutiit Program Highlights
 
Atii Angutiit continues their Qikitaaluk tour, as of today they have visited 8 communities! Please enjoy this message from the Atii Angutiit Program Manager, Richard Bohlender.
 
"Atii Angutiit is at the the start of something great within the Qikiqtaaluk region.
 
Atii Angutiit is proud to bring men together to talk about current or past trauma and promote the message that it is okay to start letting go; the phrase is TAIMA and that word is very powerful as it means STOP.
 
The best part of the program is the fact that is it for men and men only, and we can work together on preserving Inuit traditional knowledge and learn from our elders within the programs.
 
In the Tour you get to meet all the men who run the community and start the collaboration of helping each other with the same goals and that is to be there for each other just by knowing that it is okay to not be okay and that we have each other whenever we feel we're stuck in Life.
 
Atii Angutiit is there for all men and it will always be waiting for them. And the fact that we can grow together and evolve to a better person is such a wonderful thing to see."

Community Trainings & Workshops!

IIKELC is proud to offer a variety of workshops which range from a half day to 
two full days. These workshops include ASIST and Reach Out (our suicide prevention workshops), Trauma Informed Practice, Our Children Our Responsibility (a workshop on child sexual abuse prevention), Talking to Children About Suicide, and others which can be found here. If you or your community are interested in hosting a workshop please don't hesitate to reach out; we would love to visit your community and share these resources!
