Where do you need to recommit?

It's getting to be the middle of the semester. You've been working hard. Pause for a moment to acknowledge everything you have accomplished so far. The midpoint is a great place to clarify your priorities and examine what might need your attention.

Think back to your intention from the beginning of the year. How are you doing? Did you establish some priorities for your semester? Did you include yourself among your priorities?

An important skill to practice is self-compassion. If some of your intentions or priorities have fallen off, you can reevaluate and recommit.

We're not here to judge ourselves harshly, although slipping into that habit is easy. Take a moment, pull out your journal, and ask yourself:

Where do I need to recommit?
  • You may need to recommit to study hours.
  • It could be making that appointment at the counseling center.
  • It could be giving yourself Saturday afternoons to decompress.
Whatever it is, whatever you need, get clear right now and rededicate yourself to the remainder of the semester. Remember that having too many priorities makes it challenging, so keep your focus steady on your top 3 - 5 priorities at most.

What will help you finish this semester strong? What must you do to get what you need to function and flourish?

Think: eating, sleeping, moving, and breathing. Basics are best.
