Hi friend,

Fridays are devoted to creating this newsletter, most weeks. But it's Saturday evening and I've reopened this letter to share how heavy my heart is at the catastrophic flooding in western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee due to Hurricane Helene.

I grew up and went to college in some of the most-devastated areas. My family and in-laws, all of whom are safe, live very near there. It's the home of a significant portion of my heart, and an area that's historically been exploited and neglected by the rest of the United States.

If you'd like to donate or otherwise help those in the worst-hit areas, here's a list of ways you can do that. I've also been sharing thoughts about the hurricane, climate change and Appalachia over on Bluesky.

Now, on to this week's newsletter:

I am freaking delighted to share this new Body Liberation Stock collection with you: a set of original, exclusive images from artist Kat Max.

Kat (who you may have known in the past as Kathryn Hack) is one of the fat-positive artists whose work I admire most, and it's such an honor to collaborate with her.

For this collection, Kat used some of my existing photographs as inspiration and created artwork from them. Some of them were photos I suggested that she use, and some she found while roaming the Body Liberation Photos website.

This is an ongoing collaboration, so Kat will also be adding more exclusive images inspired by my work over time. You'll also find 50+ other brand-new images from Kat in the collection.

Here's Kat's official bio:

Kat Max (she/they) is a fat, queer, neurodiverse artist and former pastor. Max came to fat art as a way to cope with a chronic illness diagnosis. Max’s body liberation journey provoked what she likes to call her Fat Awakening. In addition to her art, Kathryn speaks and teaches about the intersections of liberation work and spirituality.

Body Liberation Stock images are meant for commercial use. That means that when you buy them, you can use them in your marketing, social media, website and so on. You can also purchase them for personal use, and print them to hang on your wall or give as a gift.
Unapologetically fat,
