Hello First name

ARE YOU AUTISTIC AND USE SOCIAL MEDIA? RESEARCH PARTICIPANTS NEEDED

Kieran is supervising this research from UCL (University College London, UK) and as part of this has agreed to share the call for research participants.

About the study
Research suggests that alongside potential risks, social media may bring opportunities of particular benefit to autistic adults. Specifically, we are interested in how self-esteem relates to social connection and masking in autistic adults’ online world.

This project explores how social media use is related to wellbeing in autistic adults. In particular, we are exploring if using social media can harness benefits through providing social connection, decreasing masking, and in turn, improving self-esteem.

We hope that this will help our understanding of how autistic people use social media, and what benefits may be available.

The study is also exploring Autistic social motivations, and the validity of social relationships and connections established online by Autistic people.
