DAY 3: Audacity to Touch the Untouchable
“Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, ‘I will; be clean.’ And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.” – Matthew 8:3
Devotional:
When a man with leprosy approached Jesus, it was a bold move—lepers were outcasts, isolated and shunned. But Jesus’ response was even bolder. He didn’t just speak healing from a safe distance; He touched the untouchable.
This act was revolutionary. According to the law, touching a leper made a person ceremonially unclean. But Jesus wasn’t worried about human rules or social taboos. His compassion moved Him to action, and His power made the unclean clean.
Think about it, Jesus could have healed the man with a word alone, but the touch was intentional. It wasn’t just about curing an illness; it was about restoring dignity, connection, and hope.
Sometimes, audacity looks like stepping into messy situations, crossing lines that others are afraid to, and choosing love over fear. Who are the "untouchables" in your life, the people or situations you’ve been avoiding? Jesus shows us that audacious love breaks barriers and brings healing to places others have given up on.
Reflection Question:
Who or what in your life needs a bold, loving touch, even if it feels uncomfortable or risky?
