BRING BREAKFAST BACK 
 
H.B. No. 6864 An Act Concerning The State Budget For The Biennium Ending June Thirtieth,  2027, and Making Appropriations Therefor. Governor's Proposed FY 25 Budget Adjustments for Elementary and Secondary Education Agencies.
 
The Governor’s budget included funding for continuing free lunch for reduced price eligible students for next school year AND no-cost breakfast for ALL students in school year 2026-2027.
  • Year 1 - Reduced-Price eligible students are able to eat breakfast and lunch at no cost.
  • Year 2 - School Breakfast will be free for all students attending schools serving breakfast.
There are a couple of messages:
  • Thank the Governor for recognizing the importance of meals for all students.
  • We need school breakfast at our schools next year.

LOCAL FOOD FOR SCHOOLS 
INCENTIVE PROGRAM
 
H.B. 5852 An Act Concerning Farm To School and Enhancements 
to the Local Food for Schools Incentive Program.

The F2S Collaborative is working on co-sponsors for the Collaborative’s farm to school bill - HB 5852 which makes improvements to the incentive and signals direction to fund the grants program and the CT Local Food for Schools Program. 
 
Representative Hector Arzeno co-signed this bill! We are reaching out to the other legislators asking that they co-sponsor.
 
CT GROWN FOR CT KIDS GRANT
 
Funding was eliminated from the Dept of Ag’s budget - 
$0 for 2026, $0 for 2027.
 
Please save February 26th for a hearing on the CT Department of Agriculture’s budget and our response to no funding for CT Grown for 
CT Kids funding. We will be asking for testimony and testifiers.
