Happy Wednesday, First name / my friend! How’s your month of rest so far? After last week’s email, I hope you discovered your unique version of rest and are on your way to feeling truly rested. note: if you missed last week’s email, you can read it here. Regardless of how you define rest, a quick reset is sometimes needed during the day. When you have a few accessible tricks up your sleeve, you can extract yourself from a whirlwind of chaos, recharge your energy levels, or clear your mind. 5 minutes may be all you need! I encourage you to try the following: - Breathe in for 4 counts, hold your breath for 4 counts, exhale for 4 counts, and hold for 4 counts. Repeat this ‘box breathing’ for five minutes.
- Step outside, feel the sun, stretch, and take a brisk 5-minute walk.
- Set a timer, close your eyes, breathe naturally, and picture yourself in a place where you feel calm and clear-headed.
- Find a different space and take five minutes to eat a snack there. Do nothing but eat. Notice the color, texture, and flavor of your snack. Close your eyes to smell and enjoy it. Sip or chew slowly. Feel your body and mind being nourished.
- Pull out your markers, crayons, or colored pencils. Doodle, color, or draw for five minutes.
After you try these 5-minute resets, note how they change you in body and mind. Add those that help you to your wellness toolbox and use them as needed! Which one feels like it might be your favorite? If you feel inspired to share, I’m on the other side of the reply button! |
