When I look back at my career journey, this was exactly the case.
After college, I thought I would go to medical school. I spent years believing that becoming a doctor was my path — until I felt a pull in a completely different direction: into the world of finance. Investment banking taught me a ton, but it wasn’t home.
I shifted again, this time into HR, because I realized my passion was people — creating meaningful experiences, building environments where others could thrive. That led me to a nonprofit, where I helped Black engineers launch their tech careers. It led me to Meta, where I had the honor of designing employee engagement programs on a global scale.
But beneath all those pivots, something else was quietly growing.
A love for wellness. For fitness. For helping women feel strong in their bodies and lives. What started as a side hustle — teaching fitness classes, coaching women, cheering them on while I was still figuring out my own path — became the calling I couldn’t ignore.
So I leaned in.
It wasn’t easy. There was fear. There were moments when the doubt was louder than the dream. But even in the uncertainty, there was a deep, steady voice inside me whispering: This is the way.
So if you’re standing in the middle of your own pivot right now, here’s what I want you to know:
It won’t always feel graceful. It won’t always feel obvious. It won’t always make sense to other people. Some days will feel like you’re standing in the dark without a flashlight. But trust me when I say — even when you can’t see it yet, you are being led somewhere beautiful.
That stirring you feel? That tension? It’s not something to fix. It’s an invitation to expand. To evolve. To step into a version of yourself that’s been patiently waiting for you to say yes.
Here’s to making space for the dreams that are too big for the old you to carry.
You got this, boo.
Trust and believe, I’m right there with you.
