Hello First name / friend,

Happy Thursday!  Happy Summer!  How is it the last week of June already?!  I panicked the other day and thought it was already the end of our second month of summer, not the first.  Phew!  We still have two full months of summer over here.

It's been a good month.  I really enjoy no schedules and no alarm clock during the summer months and then always look forward to getting back to them in the fall.

We took a quick overnight to Chicago this past week.  Somehow that was my first time going into downtown Chicago!  We went for the Cubs vs Mariners game at Wrigley field.  It was quick but fun.  I'll definitely have to make it back to Chicago again sometime.

I really enjoyed the waterfront and was surprised by how quiet it was.  You hardly feel like you are in the city down there.  We were there for the most beautiful evening too.

Lake Michigan - Chicago
I've been working on this North Star this past week.  This will be the large throw so I'm halfway there.

I also started that log cabin quilt.  I couldn't resist cutting into the bundle I shared last week.

It's actually going together pretty quickly and I should finish it up today.

This is just a simple 2 inch strip log cabin quilt with color on one side and low volume on the other.   There are tons of log cabin tutorials out there but I sketched the block up so I could reference it as I made these.

Feel free to download these block measurements for yourself.

FEATURED QUILT PATTERN
The featured pattern this week is Coins!  Coins is a charm friendly quilt pattern.  If you have loads of charm packs that you don't know what to do with then this is perfect for that.  You can also use layer cake squares or jelly rolls.  Or of course, those scrap bins.

Oddly enough, I don't think I used a charm pack for any of my samples..lol.

The pattern includes 5 sizes from baby to queen.
I sewed up this Fig Tree version many years ago but quilted it up last year sometime.
