We’re wrapping up our Mini Collection Challenge with a big celebration, and you’re on the guest list. I’ll be answering your questions, sharing art licensing tips, and talking about what’s next for those of you interested in growing your surface design career! This call falls on the first day doors open for The Art of Collections, so I’ll also be sharing a few collection strategy tips and giving you the scoop on what’s inside the program.

The Celebration Mini Collection Challenge Resources

Share all four prompts from your collection on Instagram by July 21st at 11:59pm EDT to be entered to win a scholarship to my program, The Art of Collections!

It's time for our final prompt! I've already seen some truly incredible mini collections on Instagram, and I can't wait to see even more as you all wrap up!

 

This week’s prompt is a must for anyone interested in licensing: lettering or typography!

 

We already did a “hero design” prompt, and many of you chose to incorporate lettering into that, but if you haven't, now's the time!

 

Why? Because words sell! Products with cute or inspiring phrases are licensing gold.

 

In my example below, “Happy Birthday, Baby!” was my hero, and “Treat Yo Self” was my lettering piece. That phrase works on a card and other celebratory products like gift bags, napkins, or plates.

 

Pick a phrase like this that could work across multiple products. It’ll make your collection even more versatile and commercially appealing.

The secret to a strong portfolio? Displaying it professionally! Now that it's the final prompt of the challenge, it's time to put it all together!

 

I've put together a few drag-and-drop templates to take the guesswork out of it for you. These are called “tear sheets” or “sell sheets” and they are a great way to give potential licensees a glimpse at your collection on one page.
