Hey First name / there,  Ever wonder how small coworking spaces end up featured in blogs, podcasts, or even the local news?  A strong story gets attention, but being prepared helps it land. That’s where a press kit comes in. It gives journalists, bloggers, and collaborators everything they need to share your story accurately and easily.  This week, we’re diving into how independent coworking spaces can attract media attention, even without a big budget. You’ll learn what a press kit is, why your space needs one, and how to create it step by step.  (And yes, there’s a free checklist down below to make this even easier.) |
|
What is a press kit?  A press kit is a small package of information about your coworking space that helps others share your story, whether they’re writing a blog post, recording a podcast, or covering you in the local news.  It usually includes your key facts, photos, and contact details in one easy-to-access place. For independent spaces, it’s one of the most useful tools for getting featured. No PR agency required.  The full press kit is usually shared as a ZIP folder. Inside, you’ll include a PDF or Google Slides file (with your fact sheet, team bios, and space details) along with extra materials like high-quality photos and logos in several formats. We'll elaborate on this further down. |

Why your space needs a press kit 🎬  Think of your press kit as your media toolbox. It saves time, builds trust, and gives people a reason to write about you. It helps:  ✔️ Streamline outreach to journalists, bloggers, and partners ✔️ Present a consistent, professional brand ✔️ Make your space easier to feature ✔️ Support your overall PR and marketing efforts  You’ll stop scrambling for photos or writing bios last minute. Everything is ready when the opportunity shows up. |

What to Include in a press kit  The goal is to make it ridiculously easy for someone to feature your coworking space. To keep things organized, think in two parts (and don’t forget: scroll a bit further down to see the quick checklist version if you prefer a one-page summary).  Here’s what to include in each part:  In your PDF or Slides file:  📝 Company Fact Sheet Keep it short. Include when you opened, where you're located, how many members you serve, and what makes your space unique.Mention milestones, awards, or community initiatives if relevant.  👋 Founder and Team Bios Include 1–2 sentence bios with names, roles, a bit of background, and why they care about coworking. Add photos (headshots) of both the founders and the team.  In your ZIP folder (extras):  📸 Photos High-quality images of your space, events, and members. Include both web and print resolution for flexibility.  🖼️ Logos Offer your logo in multiple formats (e.g. PNG, SVG) and resolutions, ready for use in web, print, and promotional materials.  📰 Previous Press Coverage If you’ve already been mentioned in a blog, podcast, or local newspaper, include links or screenshots. Even small features help build credibility.  📬 Contact Info Include a dedicated press email (like press@yourspace.com) and a phone number. Add your website and social media handles too.  Optional extras: - Testimonials from members or partners
- Quotes from your team

Final Thought  A press kit isn’t just a document. It’s your story, clearly packaged and ready to be shared.  And in coworking, where every space is unique and community-driven, there are always stories worth telling.  So don’t wait to get “big enough” for press,  you’re already interesting enough. |
