Immunity 101: Part 2

As we continue our series on immunity, let’s talk about what you can do to support your immune system so you have a better chance of staying healthy.
Did you know there are 3 ways you can be proactive to improve your immunity?
Deeper sleep:
We know, duh. That just makes sense, but there's more. When you are in deep, restorative sleep, that’s when the immune system really gets to work. It gets into rejuvenating cells, killing off the bad germs and so much more.
BUT you need to be in deep, restorative sleep for this to happen so make sure you are getting quality sleep.
Relaxation:
Stress is the worst. When you are feeling stress, it’s like revving your car on neutral - it wears out every system, especially the immune system. It’s like wearing out your battery.
Incorporate regular relaxation into your daily routine to counterbalance the stress in your life.
Taking care of your gut:
Did you know the gut is the foundation of your immunity? Most of the cells for your immune system are created in your gut.
In fact, your gut is responsible for so much. More and more research is coming out about how impactful gut health is to overall health, longevity, emotional and mental health, and even cognitive function.
Skin needs, digestive issues, immune health, mental clarity, focus, joint and muscle discomfort - all of these things are also affected by the gut.
It is so impactful that healthcare providers refer to the gut as the second brain!
So what are a few things you can do to take better care of your gut?
Dietary:
- Eat fiber-rich foods.
- Limit processed foods and sugar
- Stay hydrated
- Incorporate prebiotics and probiotics foods
