Inside Our Creative Process |
When Design Becomes Reality |
In the last In Residence email, we walked through Part One of our process: the early design phases where ideas take root and the story of your home begins to unfold. Now, in Part Two, we shift from vision to execution. This is where drawings become real spaces, where collaboration expands to include builders and craftspeople, and where every decision we’ve made together starts to take physical shape. |
Just like in the early phases, clarity and communication anchor the work ahead. Construction brings a different kind of momentum: more moving parts, more hands involved, and more coordination to keep everything running smoothly. We stay by your side helping to guide decisions, navigate complexities, and ensure the original vision stays intact through every step. |
These next steps bring the design to life layer by layer and detail by detail. |
5. Construction documentation (6-12 Weeks) |
This stage is all about precision. We take the approved design and translate it into a comprehensive interior drawing set with every material, finish, custom detail, and dimension clearly defined. Specification sheets accompany the drawings to support accurate pricing, bidding, and construction execution. → Deliverable: full interior drawing set and FF&E pricing package. |
6. construction administration + Procurement (Timeline varies) |
As construction begins, we shift into an advisory role. From conducting site visits to problem solving alongside the build team, our job now is to make sure the design intent is honored at every turn. → Deliverable: site visit reports, procurement updates, and ongoing coordination. |
7. Installation + Project Close-Out (1-3 Weeks) |
This is where the years, or months of work crystallize. We oversee final deliveries, installation, and styling, shaping each room so it feels complete and ready for living. → Deliverable: fully installed home, punch list, and close-out documentation. |

Frequently asked questions |
What should I expect in terms of timeline? |
Timelines vary based on the scope and complexity of the project. Our Full-scale design and construction projects take about two years from the initial consultation to final installation. Interior-focused or partial renovation projects often average around eight months. |
How will decisions be made? |
It’s natural to feel overwhelmed by the number of choices involved in a project. Our role is to simplify and guide. We curate thoughtful, relevant options that align with your lifestyle and the vision we've established together. |
What happens if issues arise? |
Every project, whether a renovation, new build, or interior transformation, comes with unexpected turns. Inspections may cause delays. Materials may shift in availability. Some phases will move quickly; others may require patience. These changes are normal and part of creating something enduring and precise. We’ll navigate them with you, staying focused on the end goal and protecting the integrity of the design every step of the way. |
Thank you for following along with this two-part look inside our process. From the first sketches to the final walkthrough, our goal remains the same: to guide you with clarity and care as we shape a home that feels deeply true to you. |
